South Carolina Republican Senator Tim Scott, who is moving towards a run for the White House in 2024, said that if he were president he “would literally sign the most conservative pro-life legislation” possible.
The senator’s comments come just days after he was ripped for giving what many called a non answer when asked if he would support a federal abortion ban.
In a sit-down interview with NBC News Capitol Hill Correspondent Ali Vitali, Scott wouldn’t say whether or not he believes banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy is the correct cut-off, but affirmed he would impose the strictest laws he could get through Congress.
“If I were president of the United States, I would literally sign the most conservative pro-life legislation that they can get through Congress,” Scott, 57 said.
“I’m not going to talk about six or five or seven or ten [weeks]. I’m just saying that whatever the most conservative legislation is that can come through Congress,” he added.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — who is also eyeing a run for president — signed legislation banning most abortions in the state after six weeks of pregnancy on Thursday. ***

The Dobbs decision will continue to have ramifications through 2024 and beyond.
Tone deaf.
And so here again we have Republicans poisoning the upcoming election with perfect soundbites for the Democrats.
He’s clearly not listening to the GOP consultants who say abortion is a losing topic for republicans
Should he lie about what sort of abortion legislation he would sign
Tim Scott is an establishment tool.
Oh no, another Grahamnesty move and made for the exact same reason.
Haha, clever since NOTHING is going to get through congress so he doesn’t have to take a position but sounds like a stauch conservative
Yep. They think we’re pretty dumb.
He never had and never will have a chance to win. He’s a RINO stuck on stupid. Yes, he suffers from extremely low intelligence.
It’s time for the stupid party to consolidate our gains. Promising to pass strict nationwide abortion restrictions sounds like a great way to ensure communist control of the presidency for the foreseeable future, which means we’re one Clarence Thomas heart attack from Roe getting reinstated. It’s a divided country and we just earned the right to have divided laws. Let’s not squander what we won back.
The Supreme Court gave that back to each state to decide-which is where it belongs and needs to stay-Tim is hawking an issue he knows has a RINO safety net-if he want to be a fighter, let him take on the election fraud in 2020-or the dept of justus-but he won’t...
There are literally dozens of popular independent media like Megyn Kelly or Timcast (Tim Pool) and this schmuck and other Republicans continue to go on these left-wing corporate propaganda outlets.
No, he should STFU. Consider the controversies hurting Republicans during recent elections—calls to stop all abortions, calls to cut social security, calls to cut Medicare, etc. Likewise, we see constant calls to end energy and education departments. It is all in the messaging. Statements like these might sound good to the faithful, but they sure do not encourage others to join the Republicans. I doubt one vote changed to the positive from these statements.
You don’t have to worry about ever being elected Tim, because with your help, and condoning of unlimited voter fraud in 2020, Democrats will be able to steal every election from now on.
He’s always been a stooge.
The American Conservative Union gives him a 83% rating
The Eagle Forum gave him 100%
Freedom First gave him 100%
American Immigration Lawyers Association gave him a rating of 0%
He’s definitely not a RINO according to these organizations.
That should unite the baby killers..
The way things work on Free Republic, if anyone has ever said or done anything, which deviates from the strictest conservative view of any subject, that person is condemned as RINO, too liberal, too deep state, GOPE, sellout, too willing to reach across the aisle, etc. etc.
I agree with you, we should look at someone’s entire record, and evaluate their records. I wish more here agreed with that viewpoint.
