Approximately 18,000 cows were killed, and one person was critically injured, in an explosion at a dairy farm in the Texas Panhandle on Monday.
The Castro County Sheriff’s Office confirmed with Fox News Digital that the cows were in a holding area before being brought in for milking when the blast occurred at the Southfork Dairy Farm in Dimmitt.
Very few cows in the holding area survived, officials told local outlet KFDA.

A far greater and more lasting benefit would redound to the peace loving peoples of the world from a small nudge to the monstrosity yclept Three Gorges Dam. Sooner or later, it must be done.
I hope people like their steaks well done.
I like them medium rare so I’m out of luck.

I binge-watched the entire series a few years back.
A little corny on occasion but also entertaining and clever. It gets vulgar on occasion as this was originally a TV series back when salacious material would be put into episodes to bump Neilsen ratings. I felt that it had an excellent resolution to the series. Note that J. J. Abrams was the creator/producer.
I do not remember ever having this many animal farms burn/blow up in my lifetime. I am almost 64.
I’m not sure. But it is possible that it was a grain dust explosion. Large grain storage elevators have been known to explode.

A quick search of a map turned up this aerial view... https://www.google.ca/maps/place/South+Fork+Dairy/@34.4052257,-102.2675889,1604m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x87023b3490562941:0x2d0fa006054078c0!8m2!3d34.4081115!4d-102.2630691!16s%2Fg%2F11j1kg6t_2
Using the scale, the main building appears to be about 850 x 2400 feet... so yup, about 2 million square feet.
By the way, at the google map link there are pictures of the barn during its construction (April to June, 2021)...
Reducing earth destroying carbon two fold…. No cows and no healthy food for humans.
Hope our nutritious hugs survived.
Even by Texas standards, South Fork Dairy was a behemoth. Its 18,000 cattle made it nearly 10 times larger than the average dairy herd in Texas.
It's not the first time large numbers of Texas cattle have died, but rarely do so many perish from a single fire. A blizzard in December 2015 killed off around 20,000 cattle across the Texas panhandle, according to the Texas Association of Dairymen. The dairy had opened in the area just over three years ago and employed between 50 to 60 people.
And Hurricane Harvey in 2017 drowned thousands more in Southeast Texas, leading to $93 million in livestock losses across the state, according to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service.

Thanks for that. I didn’t see any vulgarity - I wouldn’t have stayed with it if I had...but then, I didn’t see the whole series. They skipped around so I really got lost - didn’t see the 17 years of imprisonment of Walter - really liked that character - or how his son was killed. I happened across it again over the weekend. I’m going to have to make an effort to try to stick with it - I think it runs until after midnight. Give up time at the computer, I guess.
It’s more likely a lack of competent staff and missed maintenance.
My brother runs a meat processing plant in WI. They are having a hell of a time keeping up.

They have 15000+ movies and shows, but I did not see Fringe on the list.
“They are having a hell of a time keeping up.”
Yeah, 18,000 dead cattle happens all the time,
just like the hundreds of food processing plant fires and tens of thousands of accidentally dead chickens.
Haven’t noticed any destruction at insect food operations.

So, I pass on information from someone who is running a meat processing plant—the very type of entity people are talking about…and you respond with conspiracy theories.
You conspiracy nuts are difficult to understand.
18,000 dead cattle happens all the time, hundreds of recent food processing plant fires, tens(hundreds) of thousands of recent dead chickens...
that’s as crazy as the US blowing up the NordStream pipeline.
You dumbA ostriches will end free Western civiilization.
“18,000 dead cattle dead in a single event”,
when was that the last time that was a headline?
