This has to be a typo. 18,000 cows is a huge number. Maybe 1,800.
Anyone know more?

I just brought up some web pages on other news sources. It appears to be between 10,000 and 20,000 cattle died.
I would have to get better verification of the number of dead. 20 thousand is above the size of many herds going North in the trail driving days.
Now I am wondering what would cause such a blast. Maybe propane refrigerant in cooling tanks?

I just brought up a satellite view of the dairy farm. That was one HUGE barn! It may actually be 18 000 dead cows.

Other sources seem to confirm that number.
Sabotage?
A wood structure can burn pretty quickly. Cows stuck in their pens. Terrible.

Methane gas explodes. Poor ventilation + small fire?

They’ve got to quit storing the dynamite under the feed lot. Cowfarts methane is worse than we figgered?
To: Ruy Dias de Bivar
Some dairy farms have been using methane from the cow patties for power to save on operating costs. They also would probably be collecting it to sell for fertilizer and if a storage area filled with that blew up it’d make a lot of sense.
