Today is my 1 year anniversary from having exited the big city in favor of a small, rural town in NW Tennessee. One year ago my skyline was defined by skyscrapers, today it's defined by grain silos. At night I sit on my porch and listen to the frogs croaking next to my little koi pond. The "lightning bugs" will make themselves known soon. Here the stars shine more brightly than I can recall since my childhood.

I've ventured back to a large-ish city twice since the move - both times to acquire more emergency provisions in preparation for the inevitable collapse. On my return home - always during daylight - I feel stress abating with each mile of distance I put between myself and the city.

Over this past year I've made some wonderful new friends, and renewed some old friendships as well (I grew up in this part of the state). I've particularly enjoyed making the acquaintance of the talented Mennonite workmen who are helping me to restore this old place.

And, with each day that passes, I prepare myself for whatever next steps may become necessary to further distance myself from the Democrat horde. I don't want to fight these people. I'll get all the "revenge" I need by simply departing their presence - leaving them to live among their own.

Jazz might be a little too optimistic about bug cities. The worst part is that the people most likely to flee are the ones who have little to leave behind. The Section 8 housing areas in places like Aurora and DeKalb are getting a lot of inflow from Chicago.

When you don't have to find a buyer for your home, and you don't have a job so you don't have to worry about the commute, and you have relatives that already live in another Section 8 haven, it's a lot easier to pack up and go.

Pushback will begin when some municipality like DeKalb Illinois backs out of Section 8 housing rules and laws. I don't know if anybody has done that yet, but eventually it will be the only way to save smaller cities and towns as the refugees move in from places like Chicago.

People out here in the rural areas are so very different than city dwellers. New babies often are brought home wrapped in camo-pattern blankets. The young men who work for me here are anything but "privileged". One lives in a house with 15 relatives and has to drag a mattress out from the back room each night just to have somewhere to sleep. They can't afford athletic gear, so they spend their free afternoons in one of their back yards practicing "MMA fighting". They won't eat a bite of food without stopping to pray (they've got me saying blessings over dinner every evening now).

I would adopt these young men if I could, but at least I've been able to provide them with some good work and a little updated advice on their future education and career options.
