The Tennessee House of Representatives has voted to expel two young black Democrat members of the state legislature, a week after they joined a protest against gun laws, bringing a bullhorn onto the House floor amid a noisy demonstration.
Justin Jones and Justin Pearson, both 27, were joined in their protest on March 31 by Gloria Johnson, 60, a veteran member of the legislature, who is white.
Jones and Pearson were voted out of the House on Thursday: Johnson was not.
Asked why she avoided expulsion, Johnson - the only white person among the three - said it 'might have to do with the color of my skin.'
Until Thursday, only two people had been expelled from the Tennessee state legislature since the Civil War.
Joe Biden called the vote 'shocking, undemocratic, and without precedent'.
He tweeted: 'Three kids and three officials gunned down in yet another mass shooting.
'And what are GOP officials focused on?
'Punishing lawmakers who joined thousands of peaceful protesters calling for action.
'It's shocking, undemocratic, and without precedent.'
Jones said after the vote that it showed Tennessee was 'on a path toward authoritarianism', and his lawyers were analyzing whether the expulsion vote was legal.
'This should sound the alarm across the nation, that we are entering some very dangerous territory,' he said.

Not as a member of a legislative body with rules of decorum. This needs to happen more often.

If we don't have rights, then they don't have rights either.
Having worked unceasingly to destroy the rule of law, the Democrats will not be protected by the law.
Besides, taking up a bullhorn and inciting rioters to assault fellow legislators in session is not "freedom of speech". It is assault and insurrection.
All three of these people deserve arrest, prosecution, and jail sentences. Expulsion is getting off lightly.
Incredibly stupid of the Republicans to forgive the woman while expelling the men. Maybe they can vote again until they get it right and expel her too.
And if the Democrats want to startup race riots, that is just too dammed bad. Shoot the rioters. And arrest the folks who organize them.

this was all staged, orchestrated, bought and paid for.
So the left will argue, not that Johnson should also be removed, but that the other two should be re-instated. I would like to see grass roots conservatives join in with any protests that the left may be planning. The message? “We agree with you. It’s unfair. All three of them need to go!”
People lose their jobs all the time for things they say

They’ll be back within the week, and probably given a formal apology.

Rep. Johnson : 65-30
66 votes were required for removal.

Very strange how they chose to use the word "officials" and not teachers or school staff/employees. I'm guessing that was polled/focused grouped.
That would be high probability on my assessment list.
An even higher probability on my list is that the Democrats have serious kompromat on two or three of the Republican legislators and threatened them with exposure if they refused to throw their votes. A reasonable assumption is that all legislators are dirty. It is only a matter of how dirty.
"An honest politician is one who stays bought".
Since the Republicans expelled two of the three offenders, I expect that the Democrats will get revenge by exposing the dirt they have on the guys who refused to throw their votes.
And race riots. Of course, the Democrats will organize race riots.

Of course, the useful idiot voters will just elect two more communists anyway to replace them.
