Chinese Ambassador to the European Union, Fu Cong, has confirmed that China will not recognize the Ukrainian territories taken over by Russia during its military operation in Ukraine. “China does not recognize Crimea as Russian, as well as other territories of Ukraine that became part of the Russian Federation,” he emphasized.
According to Cong, the statement about “boundless friendship” between China and Russia is merely a “rhetorical device, nothing more.” Recently, Chinese leader Xi Jinping traveled to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and discuss issues of shared concern, including the Ukraine-Russia war.
Cong underscored that China “does not support the war in Ukraine” and seeks to achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict. This statement comes after China proposed a twelve-point document outlining a framework for conflict resolution.

You should realize that western sources are so comprised by US gov, NATO, CIA, miltary-industrial complex et al that they’re worthless as far as getting any factual reporting re: *anything* Ukraine. It’s wishful thinking and cheerleading that adheres strictly to the party line. The wishful thinking and cheerleading will disappear down the line faster the US-vaunted mighty 300,000 strong brave Afghan army did.
China is no dummy - they’ll blow hot & cold, at least diplomatic wise and play Peter against Paul. As every country does in it’s foreign policy.
But China’s busy building bridges across the world, literally and figuratively - especially Africa. They’re forward looking for the long game while the US is wasting time flopping around with it’s foreign policy.
The Chinese hardliners back Putin, which Xi is a part, along with the Chinese PLA.

In today’s China there is only Xi Jinping - all the others were threats are disappeared, dead or deposed - civilian and military
Doesn’t China and Russia also have a dispute over territories somewhere?
—
Yes in the Russian Far East - but that is settled now - the Chinese renamed all the cities Russia took from them by force, back to their original Chinese names. Russia is now a vassal state of China.
Message to Putin: Don’t depend on China unless you want Russia to become like China. Deals with devils don’t turn out well.
