The court doesn’t unseal the indictment until arraignment or if a judge orders it before arraignment. The prosecutor or his staff could leak it, but how would we know if the leaked information is correct?

So it is legal not to tell a person or his lawyer why he’s being indicted? I just don’t understand how this can be. It’s like arresting and handcuffing someone but not telling them why until they’re at the police station. I know I sound naive, but my mind can’t wrap around it.
