Former President Donald Trump took aim at potential Republican primary foe Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis during a recent campaign event, with much of the criticism garnering little enthusiasm from those in attendance.
During his Saturday campaign event in Waco, Texas, on Saturday, Trump argued that DeSantis had little chance of becoming Florida's governor without the former president's endorsement, with Trump breaking into an impersonation of DeSantis allegedly begging him for his support in the state's 2018 Republican primary.
"So, he came, and he really wanted [my endorsement]. I said, ‘You can’t win, can you? How do you – can [you] win?'" Trump said, recalling the alleged conversation with DeSantis. "‘Sir, if you endorse me, I’ll win. Please, please, sir, endorse me,'" Trump continued as he acted out a crying, begging voice.

Republicans have not been given fair elections for several decades. It comes with the job description. If you don’t win you don’t win. Whining about it accomplishes nothing if you can do absolutely nothing else as Trump as proven as he’s notched several consecutive losses with no reason to believe they will ever be reversed or that any one outside republicans will recognize them as anything but losses in the foreseeable future.
People around here forget there is a primary first. All this hogwash about issues only is delusional nonsense.
And where do both of you come up with this? Did you see the crowd last night? Don’t tell me you believe the polls and the MSM talking heads that have been predicting a Trump implosion since 2015? Have you watched any other recent events of his? He’s gaining, not losing. And the worse things get under Biden, and the more DeSantis reveals himself, the more popular Trump will get.
Notice it’s coming from Fox, whose been pushing DeSantis for months.
The same people hyperventilating that Desantis not only endorse trump and jump to defend him at a random unconfirmed tweet but not just defend him but do it in the ‘right’ way and the ‘right’ time also think Trump calling DeSantis a pedophile is a genius 22D chess move. Sounds like a fair contest.
Trump is a Master Troller. He has trolled many and later became a political ally of those trolled.
None of this plays at all to those who really know how Trump Campaigns.
The more rise gained , the better it gets for Donald.

DeSantis cannot hold a candle to Trump , his trolling Mastery, or his ability gleaned over a long career of organizing. managing and crisis handling.
DeSantis is fooling himself if he thinks he can run against Trump successfully, and the sooner DeSantis realizes that fact, the better off America will become, sooner. DeSantis needs to wait his turn .

Trump has incredible instincts on this sort of thing. I’m not going to pretend that I didn’t have some skepticism at first, but time and again, he’s proven that he knows what he’s doing. His insight into the public psyche is really unmatched by any other politician we’ve ever seen. His playbook is almost the exact opposite of what conventional campaign strategy would advise. And yet it works. I’m not sure if it would work for anybody else, but it works for him.
Yes, I absolutely believe he will win and be in the Oval Office in 2025 - if the elections are fair.

No it isn’t, he owes De Santis nothing. Trump is not going to play non competitive in the primary.
It is that way in primaries in both parties unless there is an incumbent.

I don’t care what the Trump clean up crew says, DeSantis is a great Republican who has done a lot of good for both Florida and for the Country. Trump does not have to try and stand on DeSantis’ shoulders to try and make himself look taller.

Just read about DeSantis moving to eliminate DEI funding in Florida. Isn’t that what Trump also wants? Why not instead attack the Democrats who are fighting for DEI tooth and nail?
Something to keep in mind is, the dynamics of running as a challenger, are different than running as an incumbent.
As in 2016, Trump would be running in 2024 as the challenger, forcing the incumbent to defend his record.
Trump was in a tough position in 2020, especially with the COVID response.
