It is indeed artificial, but it is not intelligence. Computers are not intelligent, they are incapable of thinking for themselves, and will never have that capability to think for itself because it is not a human being. It's a machine.
As a machine, all it can do is give the best representation of intelligence that humans can provide it with through programs telling it how to gather and format input provided to the machine to produce the output.
Everyone should refuse to use the term AI, because that only conditions people to believe that the machine has a degree of intelligence, when all it has is expandable memory, that humans are not blessed with. Though it's also true that humans have much more memory storage than they actually use, a portion of that storage is what keeps their bodies functioning, akin to an operating software for a computer. It also has an immune system, but the software isn't controlled by the brain or the operating system. Those instruction codes are stored in cells.
But for a machine to have expandable memory it still takes a human to build the computer with the ability to keep adding more & more memory to hold the input data, as well as, programming to continue accessing that growing memory. In addition, it needs the power, in the form of electricity to keep operating. If man becomes too dumbed down the computer will die, because of it's inability to procreate itself.
The point is, while humans can create a facsimile to what the Lord created, it doesn't come close to replicating the capability potential humans possess, but it can assist humans to improve the human condition. A machine must rely upon humans, because humans have all the control over the machine, which humans must not allow themselves to become totally reliant upon the machine, as well.
Humans survived without machines, but machines could never survive without humans.
Join the campaign to rid the world of the term AI. 🙂
