The statement does not rule out a personal involvement by DJT, for either payment of blackmail or for the ability to effectively make Amendment I protected statements.
When a lawyer sends a bill, few refuse to pay. The people cutting the checks to a trusted service supplier would not question such a bill.
If Cohen misbilled the Trump Organization, rather than DJT, then it might be a mistake instead of a crime.
What do you think the boom is? Cohen went to jail because the letter was proven to be a lie - he was reimbursed by Trump. Yes, it discredits Cohen, but it implicates Trump (not in a crime, but in the hush money a scheme).

Isn’t there a video that shows Chris Cuomo coaching Cohen (during a commercial break) on answering a question about where the money came from? Cuomo says, tell them it’s Trumps money?

His payment of money to a porn actress with his own money sounds more like it was Mr. Cohen who paid for time with Stormy Daniels. What would $130,000 buy with someone like that?
He wanted to keep it from Trump’s wife, but also likely his own - at least that would be one theory.
