It’s an eventuality. Putin will not live forever and his successor will either withdraw or commit to total war.

But there is no plausible scenario for a return to status quo ante bellum with Russia remaining in Crimea. Too much blood has been shed.

Sad is that Putin might have been able to buy Crimea and even Donbas prior to this war. It would have been far cheaper in terms of blood had he at least made a good faith effort to buy what he is trying to steal.

I will certainly agree it would have been better had this war been prevented...but not for the weapons industrial complex nor the Biden crime family.
