Your reading comprehension is lacking. The quote you listed was an editorial comment made by the author, not something said by Desantis. If you actually read the article, most of The quotes from Desantis are pretty measured and not really controversial. He focuses mostly on talking about his own qualifications and record and only talks about Trump when directly asked. Even then, his comment were much more mild than what usually comes from Trump. So you are attributing comments about Desantis made by the author as if they were said by Desantis and then using that as a justification for attacking Desantis. Not very honest of you.

But, a simple answer to this may be the mantra that seems to be continually repeated.... Between a dem and a repub, vote for the republican, because any republican is better than any democrat.
And, in primaries, vote for who you want, but always consider who would be the republican that can win, over the democrat.
Which in some cases, means Trump endorsed the rino, deep swamp, candidate over the maga one, because the swampers and rinos wouldn't support the maga candidate in the general election.

Who DeSantis allegedly surrounds himself with. Compare that with Trump, please. Cohen, Sessions, and the list goes on over the past six years. I think in hindsight one of Trump’s biggest shortcomings is that he is not a good picker of people, contrary to his earlier reputation.
Without going into detail....Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis has given up his fifteen minutes of fame!!! He will never get my vote and he will not get millions of other American voters votes!!! DeSantis is simply nothing but a traitor and turncoat to his country, his ex POTUS, his political party, and his great state of Florida!!!
I suggest that DeSantis take a hard look at the Trump rally coming this Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Waco, Texas Airport!!! DeSantis...you all is done, finished, over with!!!
