Police in Houston have arrested two teenagers over a shocking 'jugging' incident that left a woman paralyzed
Joseph Harrell, 17, and Zy'Nika Ayesha Woods, 19, were charged after the victim, Nhung Truong, 44, was attacked after taking $4,300 from an ATM
Truong is now paralyzed, uses a wheelchair, and needs round-the-clock support from her family
Joseph Harrell, 17, and Zy'Nika Ayesha Woods, 19, were charged after Nhung Truong, 44, was attacked after taking $4,300 from an ATM.
Shocking video of the incident shows Truong violently grabbed and body slammed onto the ground by an attacker who followed her for more than 23 miles after she withdrew cash from an ATM on February 13.
Houston police described the incident as a 'jugging' attack, where thieves target victims who've recently used an ATM.
The police department said Truong had withdrawn money from the Bank of America on Blackhawk Boulevard in Houston and was followed by the suspects for nearly 24 miles to a shopping center on Bellaire around 11:30 a.m.
In the video, the thief could be seen snatching an envelope that police believe he thought was Truong's cash from her scattered belongings. He began to flee but then turns around and body slammed Truong to the ground and fled with the money.
Police Chief Troy Finner said: 'I just spoke to Ms. Truong... and assured her, and I want the city of Houston to stand behind us. These are very serious injuries. The recovery is very long. And I want her to know the love of our agency but also our great citizens in this city.'
Woods was arrested for a traffic violation then confessed to detectives about the robbery. She also implicated Harrell, Detective Tyrus Fontenot said.

It shows you really have to be SO aware of your surroundings. I’m guilty of this too...preoccupied with other things.
Usually tellers at the bank will tip off their thug boyfriend when someone withdraws a lot of money from the bank.
Lolszz... I know that movie
Marathon Man (film) - Wikipedia

Marathon Man is a 1976 American thriller film directed by John Schlesinger. It was adapted by William Goldman from his 1974 novel of the same title and stars Dustin Hoffman, Laurence Olivier, Roy Scheider, William Devane and Marthe Keller. In the film, “Babe” Levy, a graduate student (Hoffman), becomes … See more
Attempted murder. But he’ll maybe get assault.
Until they start seriously holding these black teens accountable, nothing will change. Get out of the cities, and carry.
This is pure hindsight, but a few observations from the photo:
Her body language shows she is relaxed, hands are open, arms are swinging loose. He is tight and erect, arms close to his body. Note the position of his knees: he is slinking along, keeping his center of gravity very low to the ground for balance, ready to turn and pivot. He is far too close for her to turn and run. He is also on the outside of her, blocking off her avenue of escape.
If I saw someone like that, with that body language, there would be at least half a city block between us.
Very scary thought, that the teller would tip off the thieves. Can't trust anyone.
My ATM card allows $5000 daily withdrawals.
You’ll get canceled like Dilbert for saying such things
Maybe the victim can make some kind of recovery.
Unfortunately we do have to be hyper aware at times when we should have nothing to fear from others around us. They followed her for over twenty miles. She really didn’t stand a chance.
“ Looking at the photos he appears a bit bewildered and easily lead. She has that hardcore angry look in her eyes.…”

Yes, he is a bewildered low-IQer but judging from the way he NEEDLESSLY body slammed the victim, he’s also is FILLED WITH ANGER. Both perps are not fit for functional existence in our society. They are dangerous and feral.
American urban blacks are the most dangerous, as well as racist group of people on the planet. They constantly attack non-blacks, especially Asians, because they resent their success in life. Don’t know what else to say about it anymore.
And if law-abiding black Americans want to avoid being stereotyped because of the actions of the animals among the “black community”, then they need to revive the word that shall not be spoken (except by rappers and Chris Rock) and join with everyone else in using it to describe pieces of sub-human filth like these two. It fits.
Always the same race for these nasty little shits. When is it open season ?
Absolutely. Many black lives do Not matter. Any black who harms an Asian lady like this case should be killed - immediately. And to anyone who spouts that BLM nonsense as long as these hate crimes by blacks continue.
“My ATM allows a max of $300 per withdrawal”
As does mine, I don’t remember when they upped the amount but at one time the max was $200. I will add I bank with a credit union, completely cut the cord with official banks several years ago. I will add the credit union prefers some advance notice for “large” withdrawals so they have enough cash on hand.
I have no experience using a credit card for cash withdrawals or what their limitations might be. Maybe the woman was using a credit card.
Geez guys.. read the article.
She went to a BANK, not an ATM.
They love to make up new buzzwords (’jugging’??) and used it here where it doesn’t really apply.
They did, apparently, watch her come out of a bank with money and follow her.
That’s a lotta cash to have on your body. Easy to get separated from it.
At my bank, I can withdraw cash $100 at a time. There is nothing stopping me from making 43—$100 withdrawals.
The get-away car was I.D.’d from photo-surveillance of the car’s license number. Zy’Nika Ayesha Woods knew her ‘get-away’ was over when her traffic violation triggered a license check which revealed her car was involved in the ‘jugging’ attack.
