Alex Yenni recently endeavored to take his wife and 5-year-old son bowling with another family in Petaluma, Calif., close to their home. The plan quickly went into the gutter.
Mr. Yenni, a 42-year-old advertising executive, tried to book online in advance at AMF Boulevard Lanes, where he wanted to reserve two lanes for two hours at 3 p.m. on the last Thursday of the year during winter break.
The price quoted by the website, run by national operator Bowlero Corp., knocked him over: $418.90. “This strikes me as outrageous for a pedestrian family activity,” he said.

In a perfect example of the big fish eating the little fish, eventually some Big Stars actually ended up as Publix stores.....what a trip. SMH

As a kid I once ate a half gallon of mint chocolate chip ice cream in one sitting......since then (and that’s been a LONG time) I can’t even look at anything mint that’s even remotely ice cream related.
Yesh 🤮
I did something similar with butterscotch pudding one Saturday. About 1970-1971.
Parents were working and I got hungry.
Found a double-box of butterscotch pudding mix and made it.
Ate a lot of it ——— can hardly stand butterscotch to this day
I can chew on a Werthers......
I guess if you added chocolate chips to it, it might resemble mint chocolate chip ice cream?
Interesting. Thanks for looking that up.
Omg. How dangerous!
Yes. And a clarification from me...there is only one Moral code - and it is from the Lord.
Yeah, they’re not really any different than a regular McD shake.
Went there Thursday night - it was a higher-priced McD.
Guy in line with me saw me looking at the menu and bought my dinner. I said are you sure? (I was gonna BOGO a couple of cheeseburgers with a coupon).
Girl gave me back the coupon for later use. 2 Big Macs, large fry and large shake - $22+ - yikes.
I asked her about the BOGO - still $15+.
Now when I go to my regular McD’s, I can get 2 Quarter-Pounders with cheese and a $1 large Coke for less than $6, tax included. This particular McD is high-priced.
There are two McDs I frequent - I was getting the above for about $5.79. I just have to fill out the survey on the phone - takes 90 seconds or so. I never give out personal info, either.
Haven’t been there in a couple of months - but they’ve remained pretty steady on prices. So I give them the overwhelming majority of my non-Taco Bell fast food purchases.
I refrigerated one Big Mac and nuked it about 10:30 p.m. last night. It was fine.
burp
Same thing with vodka back in the 80s...got sick as a dog on it and never touched it after that, and couldn’t even look at orange juice for probably 20 years......LOL!
Reserving one lane on a Tuesday afternoon at noon is $150 for 2.5 hours!
I must be getting old -- I remember when we paid per frame bowled at somewhere between 30-50 cents per frame.

When I was a teenager I worked at a place cooking burgers chicken and fries
The smell of that frozen bloody chicken got to me
Couldn’t eat chicken for years
But I got past it 4-5 years later
Link?
She doesn't use the McD app? A couple of days ago I used the 50% off discount for all purchases on that app at McD. They also have BOGO quarter pounders with cheese every day.
Used one last night.

Oh yea made a delicious loaf to go with it in my Amazon Basics bread machine..

I worked in a big bowling alley back in 1983.
Probably the coolest job a high school kid could have at the time.
Miss those day...
She isn’t supposed to eat that stuff. Ha ha.
I think she was in the bathroom the rest of the weekend.
1984 Southern Comfort here.
Just the smell will make me hurl...
Lol. We rarely eat out, cook from scratch most every day. If we do eat out, it’s infrequently from a chain of any type. Usually small mom n pop type places. The last time we ate fast food, it was probably a Chik-Fil-A a few years ago when we were on a road trip to the Florida panhandle.
I have no idea the last time I had a burger from McD’s or a taco from Taco Bell. I would guess roughly 10 years ago when we were in the middle of a move, and didn’t want to cook after working to unpack boxes all day long. It’s been a while. Both TB and McD’s are in the same shopping center as our grocery store (Kroger) and McDonald’s has a line every time I’m there. Taco Bell not so much but sometimes. Especially later in the evening.
My husband makes damn good burgers on the smoker, thick and juicy, not thin and overcooked. It’s one of my favorite things he makes, and I request it probably every 3-4 weeks. I do think I should try to see if I can make some “special sauce” sometime. Might be interesting to try, or do they market that yet? I’ll have to check in to a knock off recipe if I can. Every now and again I think about fast food, but it’s not often. I guess we just like what we make most of the time, and it’s usually cheaper (and fresher) than what we could get eating out. Seafood on the panhandle excepted.
Oops 😬
