Pence says ‘history will hold Donald Trump accountable’ for Jan. 6th

In a speech Saturday night, former vice president Mike Pence delivered what amounted to his strongest rebuke of Donald Trump, criticizing the former president for his role in the lead-up to the Jan. 6 attack on the United States Capitol as well as attempts to rewrite the history of that day.

“President Trump was wrong,” Pence said. “I had no right to overturn the election. And his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day. And I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable.”

The former vice president was speaking at the Gridiron dinner, a white-tie event thrown by journalists in Washington, D.C. that this year featured speeches by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy in addition to Pence. The annual event tends to be a lighthearted affair, with skits and parody songs performed by members of the Washington press corps.

Somebody posted a picture of Pence walking out of the Senate all smiley with Chuck Schumer with the claim of the picture being taken January 6.

Trump said nothing that might have caused Pence to do what he did.

And no conservative supports Pence these days.

“President Trump was wrong,” Pence said. “I had no right to overturn the election."

Pres. Trump didn't ask him to overturn the election and Pence knows that. Therefore that was a bald-faced lie. That puts everything Pence says in doubt.

Pence's part in the election fraud and the Jan. 6 setup may yet come out and become a part of history.

Something odd about Pence. Always has his head tilted a little. I never had a good feeling about men who tilt their heads all the time. Just watch politicians do it, and you’ll know.

I love Trump’s direct style, but it could use a slight modification now and then. I think Pence is an example of where Trump should have modified. He needed to show loyalty to his VP as he should have expected Pence to show loyalty to him. Of course the Pence acolytes are RINO’s. But they vote and could use a little diplomatic patting.

Most of Trump’s other enemies on the Republican side are well chosen. But his VP.... He shouldn’t have become Trump’s enemy.
