In a speech Saturday night, former vice president Mike Pence delivered what amounted to his strongest rebuke of Donald Trump, criticizing the former president for his role in the lead-up to the Jan. 6 attack on the United States Capitol as well as attempts to rewrite the history of that day.
“President Trump was wrong,” Pence said. “I had no right to overturn the election. And his reckless words endangered my family and everyone at the Capitol that day. And I know that history will hold Donald Trump accountable.”
The former vice president was speaking at the Gridiron dinner, a white-tie event thrown by journalists in Washington, D.C. that this year featured speeches by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy in addition to Pence. The annual event tends to be a lighthearted affair, with skits and parody songs performed by members of the Washington press corps.

Another wasted vote on my part (when I lived in Indiana). My past voting record looks awful today. Seemed right at the time until the true colors of these people came out.... AFTER being elected. McConnel is another I voted for when I lived in KY.
This is why I have very little if any faith left in elections. These narcissists will say all the right things to get elected by us. Not hard to do with a little research on Republican talking points.
Don’t get me wrong....I will still vote..
You were not asked to “overturn” the election, you lying piece of Biden!
You were asked to do your due diligence to ensure the electors who voted AFTER Nov 3rd, were fairly and LEGALLY elected to be the electors of specific states where laws were unconstitutionally changed and fraud was reported.
But you apparently forgot to get your balls out of your wife’s pure and failed America! Congratulations!!
Yes, he was always in on it. Can you remember how his perfectly timed message that he would not halt the process came to that rally approx ten minutes prior to the end of Trump’s speech on Jan 6th? The Feds needed that time to set in motion the “set up” of the poor folks that have been persecuted and prosecuted for attending a rally that day.
Pence’s decision was most likely made way before it was announced. But that announcement was what pulled the trigger to start the shenanigans by the people that staged the riot by throwing aside barricades as the crowd from the rally started leaving the rally site and moving toward the Capitol building.
Pence was in it from the time he became VP. I imagine he was the biggest leaker and turd in the punch bowl from the day he said he would be VP candidate,
He betrayed every one of those people that voted for him on that ticket. His actions and involvement was the real betrayal. He loves the praise he gets from back stabbing speeches like this made before the DC elite crowd because he is a lackluster automaton in every way otherwise.
What a beige guy.
He has to. He’s ranked 44 on all presidents in history. Only one way to go and it’s up. I don’t think he’ll end up like Reagan in top ten, but he’ll eventually get to upper 20’s or 30’s. He’ll always have Covid around his neck fair or unfair.
Weirdly trump picked those RINOs for his administration. Personally picked every one of them. I’ve never seen so many turn against a president. It started from day 1 almost. Tillerson at State who was one of his business buddies even ended up turning on him.
All of that proves that Trump is the real thing.
You are evil.
I don’t think I will be able to get that image out of my mind for some time.
He probably has no choice in the matter.. Considering truth is irrelevant, blackmail is the grease that makes DC work nowadays..
Or he is horrible at picking leadership positions.
I felt much the same.
I like Vice Presidents who are quiet and focused, doing the bidding of the Administration quietly, and whatever undesirable yet important tasks they are assigned to.
The Vice President should take marching orders and do them, I thought Pence was doing that with the Coronavirus Task Force.
Was I ever wrong. I have come to strongly believe he was an integral part of the Uniparty that was sabotaging President Trump from within.
This is only proof to me.
some people put DC and the UniParty First...other the American People
its really pretty simple.
Pence knows the truth. When all the chips fall, it will be shown to be a set up. Pence has chosen to be willfully ignorant, pit himself against Trump and mingle with losers like Blinken and Murphy. Should play out well for Pence.
They will more likely hold responsible the man who presided over the certification of the inception of blatantly stolen and fraudulent national elections and subsequent tyranny.
It is becoming more and more clear that there was a concerted effort to Get Trump. It is becoming more and more clear that it wasn’t just the crazy left but the plan included republicans (rinos) too. The excuse from rinos about being collegial no longer works. The guys who really hate America have teamed up with the money/power hungry and sack less men. Pence is one of the latter. That is why Trump dislikes him. Pence was in on the whole plan and can’t back out now.
So, this is the hill Pence wants to die on? Have at it Mike.
Now he’s attempting to reenact The Mouse That Roared. Unfortunately, he’s just showing himself to be a total liar.
Mike, you could have been a contender. ‘bye.
The soothsayer speakth.
Please, Mr. Pence, please go away!
The founders did not include this final proceeding in the election system just to be a rubber stamp approval on fraud.
The process is there precisely to be a stop on fraud. **You** failed miserably!
