Director Steven Spielberg warned that "overt" anti-Semitism in the United States mirrors that of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, leading up to the systematic extermination of six million Jews in the Holocaust.
"I find it very, very surprising," Spielberg told late-night host Stephen Colbert in an interview aired Friday.
"Anti-Semitism has always been there," he said. "It's either been just around the corner and slightly out of sight but always lurking, or it has been much more overt like in Germany in the '30s."
Spielberg lost relatives in the Holocaust and used his profits from the film "Schindler's List" to form the non-profit Shoah Foundation to document Holocaust survivors' testimonies.
"But not since Germany in the '30s have I witnessed anti-Semitism no longer lurking, but standing proud with hands on hips like Hitler and Mussolini, kind of daring us to defy it," he warned in "The Late Show" interview. "I've never experienced this in my entire life, especially in this country.
"Somehow in 2014, 2015, 2016, hate became a kind of membership to a club that has gotten more members than I ever thought was possible in America," he said. "And hate and anti-Semitism go hand in hand; you can't separate one from the other."

That nonsense must be the next narrative on the horizon to shut down dissent over a coming outrage.
He will be on the shows in the coming weeks, then the FBI will chime in with their fictitious findings, etc.

“Munich” was a rip-off of “Sword of Gideo”, scene for scene.
As far as I’m concerned, if you aren’t for Israel, you are prejudiced.
Exactly, It isn’t Conservatives doin’ the hatin’...
Right... when he explains how wokeism and anti-Semitism are NOT joined at the hip, I’ll listen
If you mean one petecular group, than yes that is true, but if you mean all of Us Jews than your qoral is with GOD.
So called brainiac Spielberg doesn’t see that the anti-semitism is coming from the democRAT party.
I think you have heard to much Replacement Theology. Christianity is Jewish at it roots.
I think you just confirmed Spielberg’s assertion.
Anti-Semitic and anti-Islamic sentiments are not allowed in the public square, anti-Christian comments are allowed.
I’m inclined to give Spielberg the benefit of the doubt. Not because I have any great admiration for him but because we are also seeing the beginnings of anti Christian sentiments right here in good ole USA. Totalitarians hate people of faith in the true God of the Bible. The supreme state can’t allow competition with the Supreme Being. Ultimate authority must rest with the state in the Marxist world view. Just because there are Jews who do not practice their faith or are atheists doesn’t mean that at some point persecution isn’t coming for them. Further, God promised to bring the Jews back to Israel. One of the ways he has done that (and continues to) is through persecution. Another attempt at a ‘final solution,’ to wipe Israel and all Jews off the map is in the works. To deny that is to bet against God keeping his word.
Sez the fool who was awestruck in the presence of Justin Trudeau’s father, Fidel Castro, famous mass murderer.
"Overt" anti-Semitism, not at all. Nor overt racism, "Islamophobia, homophobia and transphobia." All of those are on the protected groups list.
Sure, some obscure websites promote them. But it's nothing compared to the multi-trillion dollar corporate-academic-governmental complex that promotes anti-white racism.
I'm for America First. I don't give a damn about Mideast squabbles, nor do I want us to support any side.
Christianity and Judaism share the same roots, the Old Testament. But Christianity is not rooted in Judaism.
What is today called Judaism (aka Talmudic Judaism or Rabbinical Judaism) has only been around since the fall of the temple. As a religion, it's actually several decades younger than Christianity.
