“He’s pretty much admitting that the candidates THEY GIVE US to choose from - are SELECTED - by them.”

That used to be standard practice. Party bigwigs didn’t like letting average voters have a say in candidate selection. They still don’t.

I’m opposing Trump from the RIGHT, and his love of big government spending, marriages based on sodomy, and trying to run the country like it’s a reality game show on TV.

"This account has been banned or suspended".

That neverTrump idea didn't age well.

Can Trump insert a poison pill, say, having one of his sons run as an independent should the GOP hierarchy find a way to thwart him from gaining the nomination? In 1912, Theodore Roosevelt, denied the GOP nomination by the bosses of that era, ran on the ticket of the Progressive, or Bull Moose, party. That led to the election of Woodrow Wilson, only the second Democrat to win the Presidency after the Civil War. Because of Roosevelt's independent run, many states thereafter adopted a "sore loser" law preventing someone who lost their party primary from running as an independent.

By either Eric or Donald, Jr., running as President, perhaps taking the Libertarian or Constitution Party nomination, that would ensure that a large number of Trump supporter could vote MAGA. That may result in Biden being reelected, or Gavin Newsom, Michelle Obama, or Kamala Harris being elected, but that threat could blow up the neo-con wing of the GOP, if someone like Mike Pence came in third in the popular vote. That would turn the Republican Party into a death knell, not unlike the Whig Party after 1852.

I know. He has said he might run for President. He has also said he would probably not support Trump. So if Pence runs, how can he take a loyalty pledge?

To be honest, I’m not sound enough in the full dynamics here
to comment on it.

I don’t understand how running his kids for other parties
adds to his chances.

If his kids get votes, those are going to be Trump (his)
votes.

He needs every one he can get.

Am I missing something?

Oh, I see. Thanks for clearing that up.

The same way that any other totalitarian government silences its opponents.
