I vividly remember the news of this debacle! My Wife and I were on a tour in Europe when it happened. One of the other tour participant was an Australian Police Commissioner with whom I hung out with. Since it was well known that Koreseh hung out in local bars prior to this raid..., it would have been easy to arrest him and avoided the shitshow that ultimately occurred. One of the more notable examples of Federal law enforcement disasters!

As a graduation speaker at many sessions of Federal training classes I always reminded the graduates that they were to enforce the law as written, not in a manner that they might think it should be and, certainly not in a heavy handed manner! Back at that time. the admonishments used to include "You don't want to be named in the Washington Post/New York Times". Now, it seems, the more outrageous the conduct of Federal law enforcement, the higher the praise of the mainstream media while State/Local Law Enforcement actions are held to a far different account...

I just watched a French movie on Netflix called “THE WOLF’S CALL”. You probably need to use the search function to find it but well worth the time. Right up there with the “The Hunt for Red October” quality. The English dubbing is good enough but it would have been even better to have been able to watch it in its original French.

The FBI and ATF loves killing them some uppity disobedient Americans. Rather then send in the local sheriff to arrest Koresh (with whom he had a good relationship according to his own interviews) in town the feds just needed a reminder to show America who is in charge.
