A new Florida bill would make it illegal for dogs to stick their heads out of car windows in the Sunshine State.

State Sen. Lauren Book, a Democrat who represents parts of South Florida, introduced the animal welfare bill last week.

It would prohibit a dog owner from allowing their pet to "extend its head or any other body part outside a motor vehicle window while the person is operating the motor vehicle on a public roadway."

If the bill is passed, dogs must also be on a harness or in a pet seatbelt when traveling in a car.

How about while they are at it, banning drivers from allowing their huge and/or rambunctious dogs from sitting on their lap as the vehicle is moving?

A new Florida bill would make it illegal to let a dog be in a driver’s lap or stick its head out of the window of a moving car. Senate Bill 932, filed by Democratic state Sen. Lauren Book of Broward County, includes other restrictions for pets in vehicles and would also ban the declawing of cats. It would make it illegal to have a dog transported “on the running board, fender, hood, or roof of a motor vehicle” as well as in a trunk or enclosed cargo space. Dogs also could not be transported in a car that is...

Florida Sen. Lauren Book (D-Broward) filed a new bill intended to protect animals by making it illegal to let a dog be in a driver’s lap or stick their head out of a window in the car while driving. Additionally, Senate Bill 932 includes provisions to make it illegal to have a dog transported “on the running board, fender, hood, or roof of a motor vehicle,” as well as in a trunk, or enclosed cargo space. Dogs may also not be transported in a car that is being towed. On top of those restrictions, the bill would require dogs be...

My local dog park has a hilarious sign: “no dogs jumping over fence.” I’m sure those that do carefully read the sign first.

My last dog was a Keeshond who liked to put her heat out the window if it wasn’t snowing and if I wasn’t going too fast. I did have the shoulder strap buckled around her because I loved her to pieces and was a careful dog mom.

Keeshond didn’t mind in the least.

Yes. I’m sure the police will be delighted to chase after cars with dogs sticking their heads out the window. They have so little else to do...

Dog enjoy the air in their face. They moderate their
temperature that way.

Some ignorant person was bound to go woke on this sooner
or later.

As for dog seat belts, can folks just sit down and shut
the hell up.

Everyone goes in 10,000 different directions trying to
be the one that started some new something to make a
name for themselves.

How about learning to just shut up!

Imagine the police having to pull cars over because dogs
are moderating their temperature in some manner some
lady with a corn cob firmly implanted has determined they
must be saved from doing.

Can our nation become more of a laughing stock?

Oh yeah... these are creative moonbats.

Even the small dogs in the driver’s lap are a hazard. I would hope that is already covered under something like “distracted driving”.

This one must be an escapee from Kalifornia who's next bill will prohibit dogs from sniffing each other's butts!
