Hopefully you forgot the sarcasm tag. Burning chlorine or anything with chlorine in its molecule, creates dioxins. The most toxic cancer causing compounds known.

I am not a chemical engineer, but one who was on TV(I think the War Room) said that burning would have been correct IF it was a contained system at temperatures exceeding 1000 degrees F.
Not in an open pit where the molecules are released into the atmosphere.

Correct...
What people do not realize is that the chemical in that tanker boils at 8 degrees F.
8 degrees.....
Boiling liquid builds up pressure.
Releasing the gas was a far worse option than draining and burning it.
This was the best of 3 very bad solutions.
