The Rooskies and the Krauts, of all people, would be within their rights to double team us over that deal and to frankly call in a little moral support from Denmark or whomever else was affected by our... uh, our, vandalism.
Northern Illinois Bottlecap Balloon Brigade posted a statement today about recent events.
A key part of the statement — “Please note that we construct and launch our balloons in accordance with applicable regulations, as described in this blog post. This includes compliance with FCC regulation regarding radio transmission from the balloons. The call signs used in these transmissions are assigned to General class licensees within our group who have passed the requisite exams and are registered with the FCC. (If you’re interested in amateur radio, we’d encourage you to check out HamStudy.org for more information about the hobby and how to get licensed.)”

Satellites can look anywhere but not everywhere at once. If it is reading the licence plate of a car there are thousands of cars nearby it isn’t observing.
Balloon Pop was a bad dude.
More commentary on President Retard...
Think he’s catching hell from his squadron teammates?? You get an air-to-air kill on a $12 hobby balloon that was assembled on a kitchen table, not exactly a RAF pilot in the Battle of Britain
Its a shiny object and served its purpose.
By golly, you’re right.
And sometimes a cigar is more than a cigar.
When I heard we actually shot the thing down it was like... um... couldn’t have been a UFO then... those things run circles around our best aircraft.
My son is a rocket scientist at NASA. His college had a rocket club but they were limited to 500’. The school was near NSA and a Secret Service training facility.
Higher launched tended to attract helicopters
LOL!!!
Man, you’re on a roll.
It was “decommissioned”.
Ooooo, that sounds official and militaryistic and sht.
When was the pico balloon commissioned?
50, 60, 70 and 80 year old adolecents in power.
I can only imagine what his new call sign will be.
Toy Destroyer
Captain Helium
Beater
Balloon Boy
I can see his squadron mates renting a carnival balloon popper and setting it up in the flight briefing room - you know, to train for the next mission:
Finally SOMEONE is saying what I’ve been going on since the beginning about the cost of a AIM9x missile to shoot down a $25 balloon. Some Freepers here seemed OK with that expenditure which boggles my mind. Some even with military experience. Good for Cruz, but I’ve been saying this for 2 weeks now where were these people until now? Any Freepers want to eat some crow now?
Bingo, that’s what I’d like to know. Why haven’t we seen what these “objects” look like yet? It’s been over a week for the rest of them.
That’s too funny
Exactly. Biden is about as dumb as they come
and they dint do a visual flyby because???
