Party leaders are unquestionably complicit in the premature deaths of their own supporters.
No country has a perfect COVID-vaccination rate, even this far into the pandemic, but America’s record is particularly dismal. About a third of Americans—more than a hundred million people—have yet to get their initial shots. You can find anti-vaxxers in every corner of the country. But by far the single group of adults most likely to be unvaccinated is Republicans: 37 percent of Republicans are still unvaccinated or only partially vaccinated, compared with 9 percent of Democrats. Fourteen of the 15 states with the lowest vaccination rates voted for Donald Trump in 2020. (The other is Georgia.)
We know that unvaccinated Americans are more likely to be Republican, that Republicans in positions of power led the movement against COVID vaccination, and that hundreds of thousands of unvaccinated Americans have died preventable deaths from the disease. The Republican Party is unquestionably complicit in the premature deaths of many of its own supporters, a phenomenon that may be without precedent in the history of both American democracy and virology.

Thank you for posting this.
I picture a flaming idiot writing this, face all puffed up and red from anger.
I’m still laughing as I post this.
He said he did. Do you think he was lying?
The Atlantic is as honest as the Enquirer OH WAIT they went bust.
Fauci doesn’t have the background to create a drug, any more than Trump does.. He doesn’t work in a lab.
Nine un- “vaccinated” adults in my immediate family and all voting republicans! But thanks for your concern Atlantic!
Ask these petty tyrants about the whole premise that COVID-19 is THE WORST PLAGUE EVER!!!!
Why are they so scared of this disease?
My understanding is none of the previous drugs using the technology worked out.
In re unintended consequences, look at San Francisco. THE most politically liberal area in the country. It’s dying. Who knew we could not survive a seemingly endless lockdown.
GOPers didn't buy into the vaxx because they didn't buy into the fear epidemic in the first place.
How come Africa which has a 7% vaxx rate has essentially irradicated covid from the continent.
My wife and I were watching a movie last night and a drug commercial came on for women and cycles. The side effects were Heart attack, stroke, blood clots (similar to the pill). When folks say the shot killed people they should be taking into consideration other drugs and side effects. A woman would triple her threat of the above if she was on the pill, this other drug and vaccinated. Easy to say “vaxx-death” when they don’t have all the facts.
BTW I’m not vaccinated, but find the anti-vaxx movement 🦇💩🤪 They’re running on pure emotion and paranoia. They get a sick pleasure in scaring folks here.
Who knows?
Nothing surprises me now.
Yes, but the important thing is if she gets that brand of birth control the company will make more money.
It’s intended purpose (cancer) was helpful. It was never meant for a flu.
It has advanced considerably since COVID and now being used for several medical issues.
It’ll be difficult to avoid the spike protein in the future. Folks have been debating this vaccine for 3 years, while the biotech field enlarged it’s use.
I hear you. Trump road Kennedy as a friend to give him anti-vaccine status and once in office discarded him. Trump’s son, Baron, is fully vaccinated. It’s so convoluted, it’s impossible to figure any thing out.
I had to look up the pharmaceutical from commercial. It is MyFembree.
Ummm… wait…
We supposedly had a million die from this thing.
Wouldn’t that make being “vaccinated” twice as likely to die? 🤔
The Covid USA fatality rate for age 30 to age 60 (in good health) is the same as or lower than influenza.
For healthy people under age 30, the Covid fatality rate is almost zero.
In the USA, age 70 and older seniors have a Covid vax rate over 90%.
Maybe Republican voters think for themselves and do their own research and make their own decisions. I certainly do and I was and continue to be bombarded by government propaganda here in PA.
Quite honestly, I am very disappointed in how so many Republican politicians saw fit to take action during the pandemic. It shows how much trust they have in the deep state. That makes me question their abilities to make good decisions when they had no business in making any decisions.
not nearly enough.
