The US intelligence community developed a secret technology to track China’s fleet of surveillance balloons only in the last year
...
Although they won’t say how we’re doing it, the sources claim that the US can now even track past balloon flights—which is why the news only recently came out that the lighter-than-air craft crossed American airspace during the Trump administration. Like a scene out of “Back to the Future,” the Pentagon only recently realized that these intrusions had occurred.
Despite the Biden administration’s insinuation that somehow Trump knew about these flights and did nothing about them, the truth is that our intel community did not know about them at the time, and so could not have informed the former president.
...
Shouldn’t it inflame everybody that Biden allowed our number one geopolitical and economic foe to fly a surveillance aircraft over our sovereign territory for over a week? But I digress.
...
Biden let a Chinese spy balloon fly over our sensitive military sites before shooting it down after it completed its mission.
And then tried to claim last night that he protected our sovereignty from China.
What a joke.
No serious American is falling for that.
~Steve Scalise
...
The new methods indicate that Chinese balloons crossed US airspace at least three times during Trump’s tenure. As I’ve previously written, balloons are cute at birthday parties, and can be effective information gatherers about the weather—but military balloons could also be used to drop munitions, conduct high-level surveillance, and even launch drone armies and EMP attacks. They’re no joke.
You’d think they wouldn’t be that hard to track—but they’re flying at heights well above the altitude of commercial aircraft.
...
the balloons are extremely difficult to track .. the National Weather Service indicates the highest we can go is 20 miles], and can evade the more traditional radars that are oriented toward detecting fast-moving missiles and counterterrorism threats…
...
China has developed an entire fleet of these military balloons—which have been seen in other countries besides the United States—and hopefully, the autopsy of the one the US recently shot down will help us understand just what the heck the CCP is up to.
None of this excuses Biden for his failure to take out the balloon much sooner than he did, but it could explain why Trump and members of his administration basically said, “what the hell are you talking about?” when news broke that flights had occurred under his command.
BS! UTTER BS!
There’s this thing we’ve had since before WW2 called.. RADAR and it’s perfectly capable of detecting weather balloons because it was used to track such things post WW2 when we were tracking the Russians and the cold war.
“In all fairness”, the seventeen U.S. “intelligence communities” were way too busy trying to overthrow President Trump to worry about Red Chinese spy balloons. They were busy insurrecting against the American People.
Does this explain why Brandon had thousand of top secret files laying about?
Balloons like the one shot down recently have a radar signal that shows like a search beacon.
They are easy to locate and track - stealth is not one of their features
Everything the government says is a lie.
Start there and work backwards.
Does this explain why Brandon had thousandS of top secret files laying about?
Gee has our government invented a time machine?
Every single thing. And the media just repeats it uncritically. Good little parrots!
The American Experiment is over.
As in Ukraine, the truth is hard to discern. I just get the odd feeling that the DoD is spinning more than the WH.
Agreed. I think we've turned a corner and can't turn back.
We can track asteroids a few dozen meters across in the depths of our solar system but can’t find balloons as large that over North American skies by day?
LIES!
The only thing I can think of is they are now going back and scanning saved surveillance/satellite data. But the simplest answer might be that the intelligence/security agencies simply didn’t tell the Trump administration about the balloons, either because they didn’t trust the Trump administration to know about it or it was really not a big deal because it happens so often.

No. Even commercial air traffic systems don’t display radar return targets in normal mode of operation.
Military systems likewise have such filters. It’s a form of stealth, i.e. using system weaknesses (’vulnerabilities’), just like they did during GW1 by flying the F117s through the throughs between Soviet built radars to reduce the threat of detection.
It’s the purpose of such flights (and, I believe, the drone swarms encountered by the navy).
And like most things that the CCP does, they saw an idea and are trying to see how it fits into an attack plan.
And speaking of Op Sec, the CCP is learning about our radars from building components for us, and developing or reverse engineering the radar software.
... more traditional radars that are oriented toward detecting fast-moving missiles and counterterrorism threats
WW II era radars did not use as much signal processing as we do today.
The software that controls modern military radars will throw out the slow movers as not important.
Since we are so tied to massive signal processing to find the blips among the background noise, a rewrite of the code is in order to find this new threat.
That’s BS. The 2 ton sensor package would show up on radar from hundreds of miles away.
