I’m not blaming the victim, but there is a cautionary note here. According to the article, the victim was carrying $24,000 in cash to buy a car he saw on Facebook Marketplace. That is why he met with the shooter.

This seems like a stunningly naive thing to do. I cannot see how the risk would be worth the few dollars saved.

“Suspected NYC cop-shooter caught upstate”

Rockland county? That’s like 25 miles. I guess anything north of Manhattan is “upstate.”

Weird: The article says that the Post is withholding the name of the officer, but the caption on one of the photos gives his name.

I'm glad, but not surprised, that they caught him. This fits into the reasons cops take action.

Why police act:

1. The victim is a cop or family member
2. Publicity
3. Possibility of getting some poontang
4. Possibility of $ (fines or forfeitures)
5. Possibility of kicking someone’s butt
6. The victim is famous
7. Politics

Just a wild guess, but I bet those cuffs were racheted pretty damn tight.
