Turkey has been hit by a second massive earthquake, hours after an earlier catastrophic quake devastated the region and killed more than 1,700 people.
The 7.8-magnitude night-time tremor, followed hours later by a slightly smaller one, wiped out entire sections of major Turkish cities in a region filled with millions of people who have fled the civil war in Syria and other conflicts.
The later 7.5 magnitude quake struck at 1.24pm (1024 GMT) two-and-a-half miles southeast of the town of Ekinozu and around 60 miles north of the first quake that has wrought devastation across Turkey and Syria.
Hundreds are still trapped under rubble on both sides of the border as a result of the first, and the toll is expected to rise as rescue workers continue to search through mounds of wreckage for families crushed in their sleep.
Orhan Tatar, an official from the Turkish disaster agency, told reporters that the two quakes were independent of each other. He said hundreds of aftershocks were expected after both. Tremors were felt as far away as Greenland.

IF - and that’s the biggest word in the English language - God is smiting Turkey for something, it would be for something so trivial as delaying the admission of 2 nations into NATO. It would be for acting against Israel, the apple of His eye...and, on that score, Turkey’s government has been distinctly anti-Israel for quite some time.
That said, not everything has to occur because you say that God did it for X reason. God set up everything in nature, specifically including the tectonic plates and their movements, and most of the time He doesn’t intervene in events, He lets things take the natural course that He planned for things long ago.
I think that it is the height of arrogance to state in such definite terms that “God did X for Y reason” - and this applies to anyone who says this type of things, not just you. Take a step back and realize that God’s ways are not the ways of men, and that mere men cannot fathom more than a tiny fraction of what God’s will may be.
While I don’t like Turkey’s government one bit, I hope that the deaths among the ordinary people of Turkey from these horrible quakes can be reduced as much as possible, that those missing are found quickly, and that those injured are healed as quickly as possible. Human misery is human misery, wherever a person is located, and it is never a good thing.
Correction:
“IF - and that’s the biggest word in the English language - God is smiting Turkey for something, it would be for something so trivial as delaying the admission of 2 nations into NATO.”
should be
“IF - and that’s the biggest word in the English language - God is smiting Turkey for something, it would *NOT* be for something so trivial as delaying the admission of 2 nations into NATO.
Hear; hear.
Israel has sent 4 rescue teams with specially-trained dogs to Turkey to try and save people. Turkey will still support Hamas scumbags in Gaza.
lol
So in your opinion, God (if you even believe in God) is in control of everything, but... bad things apparently just happen.
“in a region filled with millions of people who have fled the civil war in Syria and other conflicts.”
Watch Biden bring them here.
Not to make like of this terrible occurrence. I feel very bad for those people.
Just yesterday I came across a video on Youtube about the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that destroyed Fukushima and the surrounding areas. It was done by NHK based on footage collected from people during the event: “3/11 - The Tsunami: The First 3 Days”
What was clearly apparent was the way the Japanese reacted post-event, versus the way people react in the U.S. urban areas whenever there is a problem. The differences are staggering.
Israel is often times one of the first responders in Natural Disasters.
Biden hands out money like it’s his own to spend....his administration has so far been unaccountable to anyone. Perhaps there will be some changes in that since Republicans have the House which controls the money.....unfortunately they’re not exactly spend thrifts either.
You know why? Because the voters don’t want them to be.
Oh sure, they say “cut spending”, but not for their pet programs.
Amen to that! I was thinking that it’s going to be ironic that Turkey now needs help from the EU and NATO after cozying up to Russia.
As Naples has been in the past on several occasions. The current city of Naples is built on the ruins of old Naples. Much like the modern city of Ercolano is built on the ruins of Herculaneum.

God does not work that way. You are projecting.
So in your opinion, God (if you even believe in God) is in control of everything, but... bad things apparently just happen.
I'm not going to drift the thread by getting into theology.
But I will pray for you.
Absolutely. All you have to do is read what Jesus says about the tower of Siloam in Luke 13:4
**God is smiting Turkey for its intransigence in allowing Sweden and Fenland join NATO.**
And God told you that directly? Are you a prophet of the LORD? Or are you assuming?
You need to be clear about the source of your claim.
Yes, God judges man, often using natural disasters, wars, pestilences, etc.
The earthquakes are the jv team compared to Fowchi and friends. When God gave David a choice of punishment for Israel, faced with either man’s judgment or God’s judgment, David chose God’s judgment; because God is much more merciful than man.
