That contrail missile story was crazy here on FR. People make their mind up about something and no amount of evidence or logic will sway their opinion based on total ignorance.
I think that is the one that Glenn Beck fell for hook, line, and sinker. I got called every name in the book on that one for simply saying it was a contrail and until more evidence became available we should wait and see.
I really DOUBT that we have high altitude defenses, since we’re the US and no one will never attack us.

Wind direction and speed can be measured using a doppler laser radar. The doppler effect vs time of return can be correlated to distance from the sensor. Doppler measurement would give you the direction and speed of the wind. I hope I wrote the correctly.
The speed and direction can change dramatically with height. And there can be numerous layers. Consequently the balloon can change its height to get to the best wind direction in an attempt to hover or go to another destination.
So head military leader said there is no threat but also said we are concerned about taking it out for fear of a debris field and injuring the people on the ground. They knew about this balloon before it entered our air space on the west coast but allowed it, are their not vast open lands in Montana? they are once again bullshi##ing us and allowing china to spy freely.
