True. The point I made weeks ago was that the drawn out balloting fighting was going to end up pitting pro and anti McCarthy forces against each other, doing damage to our side.
Because the ones who opposed him would never see a bill passed and that would lead his or her home region voters to think they need a fresh face. Which might mean voting Dem.
I wanted him to bow out since his ego trip was promoting disunity (like McConnell).
Dems are united like a block of cement (as is their thinking since the New Deal.)
That was one of the dumbest summations I’ve ever read here on FR
“That what they get for going after the RINO’s who hold the power”
Dumb...
Why should we unite around GOPe politicians who will ally with the communists and behave exactly like them? For the warm, fuzzy feeling?
I think that’s pretty reasoned thinking.
I opposed him also. In the quest for “my way”, I try to leave healthy room
for understanding that although I don’t get it the way I want, I may get a
good portion of what I wanted the way I had not preferred.
It’s my hope we won’t see too much retribution from McCarthy. He may
surprise us.
I’ll admit to being pretty leery of him. What I’ve seen out of him so far,
makes it look like some sense may have actually been beaten into him
during the nomination process.
His public comments have been much much better than I had expected.
The other day he was defending Trump from a standpoint about 180° off
what his comments were in the past.in the past
His most recent comments about dealing with the Democrats, are
somewhat troublesome from the standpoint of what has happened in the
past. There is a process though. We have to wait and see what comes
from it. Then we’ll have to ask ourselves if we could’ve done better.
I hope we’re pleasantly surprised, but then we’ve hoped that a lot in the past
too.
