Most of us probably knew this was coming after the Pentagon was forced to repeal the COVID vaccine mandate for the troops last month. The Marines had been hit particularly hard, with more than 3,700 troops being discharged after refusing to take the shots and nearly as many stuck in limbo with pending exemption requests. Very few exemptions were granted for either religious or medical reasons. But now that the mandate has been removed, some recruiters have been sending out text messages to the people who were discharged, inviting them to come back to the ranks. But as Alpha News reports, not everyone is ready to forgive and forget just yet.
Marine Corps recruiters are sending out texts to former members who left active or reserve duty over the COVID-19 vaccine mandate asking if they would like to rejoin now that the Secretary of Defense has overturned the mandate, screenshots of the texts obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show.
Corps recruiters reached out to Individual Ready Reserve Marines — “men and women who had left the active or reserve forces” — alerting them that the COVID-19 vaccine mandate has officially been repealed, a Marine Corps Recruiting Command spokesperson confirmed. The recruiters then ask if the members would like to discuss options for returning to service if they were among the thousands discharged for refusing to take the required vaccine against COVID-19, multiple screenshots of the messages obtained by the DCNF show.
A spokesperson for the Marines was quick to point out that this was not some new, official policy that was handed down from the top ranks. These are individual recruiters who were taking the initiative to try to lure back some of the troops that were discharged.
They may manage to bring back some of the troops, but text messages obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation show that some of the discharged Marines are distrustful and in no mood to take the recruiters up on their offer. One of them responded by saying that he had been “belittled by command” for more than a year and had to fight to get an honorable discharge. And after all of that, he asked if they think that “the second they take that requirement away I’m running back?”
The same former Marine went on to state that they could bring the mandate back “tomorrow” and he would be stuck right where he was before. That may or may not be true, given the position that’s been taken by the courts, but it’s easy to understand how many of the dismissed troops would be suspicious.
There’s a limit to how much people will put up with and that includes many of our men and women in uniform. The Marines in particular are not a good group to push around. When diplomacy ends and the fighting begins, it’s almost always the Marines who are the first sent to the front lines. Some of these former members clearly feel like their own government has essentially spit on them, giving many of them less than honorable discharges over their refusal to participate in a medical procedure they opposed.
Sadly, this is something that we’ve been discussing here since the first mandates began to roll out. It seemed obvious that the mandates would have to end eventually, but it was never going to be as simple as flipping a switch. And now it’s going to take some time before we get our military back up to the required staffing levels, assuming we ever do.
The problem is they will be in close constant contact with a lot of vaccinated people. That’s dangerous.

We’d love to have our lives ruined a second time out of the blue at any moment! Gee- where do we sign up?” /s
They will probably keep the not getting vaxxed as a stain of insubordination on the soldiers record and hold it against them for future promotion. All they want are warm bodies now so we look less vulnerable to China. Too wokers are now in charge of military.

When our own military cannot be used to protect our citizens from the border invasion then what’s the use of having them?
No foreign enemy could come up with such effective weapons to reduce effectiveness, recruiting, and retention than the absolute bullshit they have been foisting on the troops for years now.
Nobody but the truly desperate would return to any organization that treated them the way they have been. And they know they will be thrown under the bus the next time some nonsense policy is required. Very sad to yank around people this way.
In the 1980s the military had really come a long way into treating the enlisted troops with an eye towards recruiting and retaining quality individuals. The Draft had been rescinded, and at the same time the complexity of equipment and weapon systems increased. A military largely made up of personnel doing a 2 year stint wasn’t going to cut it, it takes that long just to get someone trained up.
“Quality of Life” issues were identified and addressed. Even better food, better pay, better barracks conditions for single soldiers and marines made the military more attractive.
The numbnuts at the puzzle pqlace threw all of that away. Yeah, the politicians run the military, but they had to know they were being setup for failure.
There is nothing prohibiting our military from protecting against invasion. Before World War I that was the main use of active duty military.
“Posse Comitatus” act just means the military cannot be used for law enforcement purposes against Americans. American citizens. Setting up a speed trap and issuing tickets, for example.
It is probably true that “our” politicians would never allow the military to be used for its intended purpose, at least if they could help it.
What military member who intends to serve one or two tours would ever put themselves in a position where they're forced to take a Jim Jones Jab that could kill them or leave them with a lifetime of debilitating health problems?
What military member who intends to make a career of it would ever start down a path that someone could tell them to choose between a Jim Jones Jab or lose it all?
What the brass is not yet accepting and politicians will refuse to accept is that the entire pay and compensation system will have to change. Fewer and fewer will join up if they can lose it all at any time over twenty years. They're going to require higher pay up front and the ability to leave with a 401k with no strings attached. No more of the model of "put in your time and you'll have a pension at the end." No, the trust is gone.
Good luck with that. Maybe if you give them $100,000 in restitution. Otherwise bark up a different tree. They would still have to work for the same Defense Secretary and it’s only a matter of time before he pulls another stunt.
Mandates are simply illegal orders to perform something unnecessary dangerous, illegal or immoral. The Biden mandate was illegal.
