Thank you for reminding me of that terrifying bit of Scripture. We have fallen so far as a culture and it's hard to imagine a way out of the hole we have dug. We have killed the goose for the golden eggs, and the crash will come soon. God has warned us.

I am in my 70's and will only live another decade or two if I am so blessed, and may not experience the crash, but I fear for my daughter, and the children of my friends and family.

Thank you again, and may God bless you and yours.

Yes, the pertinent principle is that, "unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." (Luke 12:48)

Even Solomon, while he certainly had many servants, wives, food and pleasures, did not wake up to hot water on demand, nor air conditioning, nor ice cream and a plethora of foods in one place, , let alone entertainment via one device, and ease of travel of vast distances in hours, etc. Yet we complain more than anyone.

As an aside, one the reasons for slaves and servants in so much of history was due to so much labor being necessary just to live. pre-Industrial revolution economies had 70 or even 80 percent of the population employed in agriculture. Now agricultural employment accounts for less than 4 percent of all jobs, and no US later factories declined as imports rose in providing the US with cheap goods. By 2007, Americans work fewer hours and enjoy more leisure than ever before. The average American today works 8 hours less per week and enjoys 7 hours more leisure per week than in 1965.
