TRUMP TAKES SHOT AT DESANTIS OVER COVID LOCKDOWNS, TOUTS SUPERIORITY IN POLLS: ‘DJT LEADING BIG!!!’

President Trump took a shot at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in a Sunday statement posted to Truth Social, touting his superiority in the polls and railing on DeSantis for his policies during the Covid pandemic.

“The revelations about Ron DeSanctimonious doing FAR WORSE than many other Republican governors, including that he unapologetically shut down Florida and its beaches, was interesting, indeed,” Trump wrote. “DJT leading BIG!!!”

The president also shared a picture from another Truth user on Monday that included screenshots of headlines written in 2020, comparing his Covid pandemic policy against Gov. DeSantis’s. “Remember this?” Trump commented. “Some Republican states got it right, Florida got it wrong!”

Trump’s remarks come after a busy weekend for the 45th president as he kicked off his 2024 presidential campaign on Saturday in Salem, New Hampshire, with a keynote address to the New Hampshire Republican State Committee. He also spoke at the South Carolina State House on Saturday afternoon, unveiling his leadership team in the Palmetto State.

Trump dominates AGAIN in new poll, maintains his spot as the clear favorite for 2024 primary nominationhttps://t.co/BEDobYGafZ— RSBN 🇺🇸 (@RSBNetwork) January 27, 2023

“The Fake News Media was good yesterday in their coverage of my stops in New Hampshire and South Carolina,” Trump said on Truth Social. “Other than The Globalist Street Journal, which is rarely accurate or good, they said the day was really ‘amazing.’ The enthusiasm to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN has never been stronger.”

Trump has dominated primary presidential polling over the last few weeks, eclipsing Gov. DeSantis by double-digit margins among primary Republican voters. As reported by RSBN, a new poll from Premise found that 59 percent of Republicans preferred Trump as the Republican nominee in 2024, compared to only 24 percent who preferred DeSantis.

Trump also emerged the victor in the eyes of the American voters in a new Emerson College poll, which revealed that he had garnered 55 percent of support for the nomination, while Gov. DeSantis had accrued 29 percent.

President Trump told reporters onboard Trump Force One over the weekend that he would consider a presidential bid from DeSantis as a sign of disloyalty.

Trump stated, “He would have not been governor if it wasn’t for me – and that’s okay. Number one, he wouldn’t have gotten the nomination, and number two, he wouldn’t have beaten his Democrat opponent. So, then, when I hear he might run, you know, I consider that very disloyal.”

“It is always about him... all the time.”

The only presidential candidate I am aware of who praised his opponent was McCain praising Obama during a campaign rally. He was booed and lost the election.

New York Times 22 April 2020:

“Trump Criticizes Georgia Governor for Decision to Reopen State

“I think it’s too soon,” said the president, who joined several mayors in questioning Gov. Brian Kemp, a Republican, who had said some businesses could resume on Friday.

“U.S. President Donald Trump said Wednesday he “totally disagrees” with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s phase 1 plans to reopen tattoo parlors, bars, hair salons and other nonessential businesses this week.

Trump said Kemp’s decision violates the phase 1 guidelines the White House announced last week that recommends states wait to ease social distancing restrictions until there’s widespread testing and a low level of community transmission. Trump said he respects Kemp’s right as a governor to make his own decision.”

DeSantis’ biggest mistake here is that he won’t just own up to his decisions from 2020.

DeSantis clearly only eventually followed Trump's lockdown guidelines for the entire nation, yet thankfully DeSantis did not do it immediately or even go as far as what Trump was requesting.

If anyone is guilty of not owning up to their decisions, on this and every other major mistake they have made, it's Trump.

DeSantis never had a career outside government. And all the posers gravitate straight to DeSantis.☺

Trump? He built a planet wide empire before ever running for any government office.

DeSantis is running. Trump sees it and isn’t letting him control the timing. DeSantis, unlike Trump, isn’t a straight shooter he’s happy to let others do his dirty work so he can look above it all. This is how all political pukes did it before Trump.

I don't. I hope Trump supported DeSantis based on conservative principals - if he was looking for a boot-licker or somebody to owe him a favor, he may have chosen the wrong guy.

Trump will never be able to be a good President again. Who is going to work for him.

His picks the first time around were a disaster. It won’t be any better next time

Until a person actually serves in a Presidential of Federal government role, and people can see what a person stands for on issues foreign and domestic, and who is backing them, it is difficult for people to trust a presumed candidate.

Keep in mind, Florida is one state. Many are not all that familiar with De Santis.

Absolutely disgusting, Trump. You were Fauci’s boss. You were Brix’s boss. You helplessly flailed your arms while your underlings stripped America of any pretense of a free nation.

Easter was April 17. DeSantis opened the beaches the very next day. Trump didn’t open ANY national parks until June 2. Trump NEVER withheld funding from schools that stayed closed for until the day he left open. Trump NEVER protected America’s right to worship. Trump NEVER protected anyone’s right to conduct business. Trump NEVER saw fit to do anything to protect Americans’ rights to not receive the vaccine, apparently blindly trusting in his successors to do the right thing.

Trump didn’t oppose anyone. He said, I think it’s a little early, a little bit but everyone has to make their own choice. He didn’t say that about Florida he said it about Georgia. The admin Birx at the time, was ecstatic about how well Florida was documenting everything. For the record, I don’t agree with how Trump dealt with COVID but I also understand the context. It was as much an attack on him as anything. The war wasn’t against the Govenors, it was against Trump and they used Govenors as a way to help take him down when they saw fit. You’ll recognize the girl in South Dakota didn’t shut down anything. She managed it the way I think it should have been handled but at the same time South Dakota was not New York in March of 2020 and is also a lot less of a city dominated state from what I can tell.

I find it sanctimonious

His failed attacks against DeSantis, such as on the lockdowns, and being sanctimonious, are what DEMOCRATS do, trying to accuse others of what THEY are actually guilty of.

Because when it comes to sanctimony, Trump is the KING.

If Trump waits until he announces before defining him then Trump is ceding ground to him and allows him to control and dictate the narrative. Trump isn’t blind on this. DeSantis and his crew, the Jeb and Cruz folks are doing all the prep work and Trump sees it. Read his Truth Social posts. He’s making it quite clear.

Too much conflicting information out there. Especially about who is funding/backing him.

That seems at odds with his argument.

Why is he arguing lockdown. Spitballing? Distraction?

May be true, but I think the very same treatment Trump got will be what anyone will get unless that person is in line with the deep state.

I don’t see an independent from deep state candidate so far other than Trump. Looking at who backs a candidate, particularly financially, tells us more than anything else possibly could.
