Race was obviously a factor in the incident. But that is not the same as “racial animus” of the sort a KKK member might hold.
My guess is that the 5 Memphis cops beat Nichols savagely because:
A) they are by, nature and culture, savages. They live in a subculture where capacity for violence is a survival mechanism.
B) they were angered that he disrepected them by trying to run away. A gang of Black thugs in uniform would not/could not let a black guy disrespect them without loss of credibility in the jungle. My guess is that The victim ran away because he expected a savage beating by police. Vicious cycle.
C) they expected to get away with it (and would have if the victim hadn’t died on them) — because he was black, and they were in positions of authority. Abusing that authority was probably a perc and a habit.
I’m sure most gang-land disputes could be defused by a soi-boi with a man-bun white-‘splaining the situation to the uneducated participants.
Part of my daughters (and I have 8 daughters) is always to send them to a very hard Jewish school from age 3 to 6th grade, public school for 7-8, with special tutoring for math and English at said Jewish school, then back to Jewish school.
This started by accident because of the lack of a good accredited Jewish middle school, but has become critical in the education of my children.
They end up at a mixed race school, the best public school in the area, but it’s majority Hispanic with a fair number of black kids.
The quickly are disabused of stupid liberal ideas about races, see bad choices being made, see bright kids become worthless, see abject stupidity, all in a relatively safe age.
Getting in a fight for being Jewish with some random chola has been great for my daughters.
Then I send them to the IDF for 2-4 years, then college, usually married at that point.

no doubt cops of every shape, size, age and stripe see more black miscreants than probably all other types combined, and thus it’s not unreasonable that ALL cops will have certain expectations about blacks suspected for any reason ... it’s a great misfortune that black scumbags taint the great majority of hard-working, law-abiding black citizens ...
i have noticed on “On Patrol Live” that younger black cops relate better to many black folks, and can better determine whether some young black kid is just an idiot doing something stupid, or whether he’s a drug dealer or thief ...

Maybe, maybe not. I am, in no way, justifying the fatal beatdown over a traffic stop, just contrasting the outrage to the total lack thereof against the capitol police for doing the same thing.
The black cops did what thousands of blacks do every single day, deliver a gang beatdown to another black guy. It’s a black thing.
That’s obvious in all the black people calling other black people “Uncle Tom”, “Porch Monkey”, “Sell out”, “Oreo”, etc.

Maybe because it is more likely a black store owner operated in a black neighborhood. I can find dozens, hundred, thousands or videos of “teens” rampaging in stores and robbing stores. And when we hear of “mostly peaceful” looting who is doing it? It is at least a 200 to one ratio.

Good point. There are entire political organization set up to hate white people. White liberals trip over themselves competing for who can hate themselves more. The democrat party is openly racist and hostile to whites. White Joe Biden declares it will be a great thing when white people are eliminated from America with “unrelenting” immigration. Anti white racism is rampant on garbage networks like MSNBC. Anyone can say anything about white people. All while “I’m black and I’m proud” is celebrated but all hell breaks loose even if a “it’s OK to be white” sign gets posted to a street light pole.
