Society has dictated that unless you are collecting disability you are not legally disabled. It is like saying that unless you have a fishing license you do not know how to fish. Even the hearing impaired can be denied disability because they are “still able to work”. Yet the hearing impairment is still a disability whether legally accepted or not.
Is it wrong for someone with bad hips to make the claim they have bad hips? A very real disability?
