I hate to be the one to bring you this news, but the SS "Trust Fund" is nothing but an accounting fiction.

I agree, and it's not news to me.

Your point is the reality of the accounting.

However, if there is a financial reset (I think there will be), it will include making Americans whole that bought into the fiction.

If you’re expecting to rely on SS to survive once you stop working, you’ve done your entire life wrong.

it was all thrown away as usury interest to cabal banksters, from 1989 thru now

Hope their bags are packed.

I know the frustration, but touching Social Security and Medicare is a loser politically. It is what it is. Plenty of other areas to cut before you get around to those two.

It would be suicide to propose a cut to social security and Medicare. These problems were created by Dems and the only way they will be fixed is if the Dems do it.

I would focus on cutting Obamacare subsidies. Those subsidies have grown out of control.

Congratulations on your understanding, and use of the term “usury”, to describe the Christian and Islamic sin and the former crime, both.

The day the first Bank Americard came out, my grandma cut the article out of the paper and showed it to my parents and I, proclaiming like the German Lutheran she was, “This will lead to usury”.

Even she could not have imagined replacement of gold and silver with usury as the basis of consumption, and the foundation of a money system.

Try to explain usury to someone under 50, and watch the blank stare as they worry you have lost your mind, while having no comprehension of what you are talking about.

Anyway, well done.

Thank you.

Praying for N.E.S.A.R.A., sooner rather than later (given, it has been much delayed for various extremely nefarious reasons).

“If you’re expecting to rely on SS to survive once you stop working, you’ve done your entire life wrong.”

If Republicans expect to cut Socisl Security and win elections , they really are the stupid party. Trump said that during the 2016 primary debates - and he’s still saying it. And he’s right.

Cognitive dissonance is when a freeper joins one thread to post about why Social Security is a “Ponzi” and needs to be cut, and then he joins another thread to complain about how the Democrats are accusing Republicans of opposing and wanting to cut Social Security. Freepers like that want to have it both ways - but look silly in the process

Take heart. Credit-based money systems have never lasted, and that which cannot go on, won't.

Look at the collapse of the Reichsmark in 1945.

It won't take long to get back on our feet, once we have real money again.

“SS Taxes are given to the US Treasury ”

That’s why Mitch and Lindsey want to cut Social Security benefits - to free up more money from Social Security taxes, to spend on Ukraine and the Military Industrial Complex, and social programs for impoverished new immigrants.

we need to spend more money on national defense. The Chinese threat is a serious one.

McCarthy, apparently, would do anything to get his Speakership, including promising the Freedom Caucus, cuts to national defense.

Way to help out the Libs/commies.

The Chinese threat is a serious one

And what, specifically, is that threat, why is it serious, and, most important, is it greater than the Mexican threat?

China is a paper tiger that can not even menace the trade lanes upon which the entire national economy depends.

There are several navies presently deployed in the China Seas to thwart the efforts of the Chinese navy. If there is any kinetic naval aggression, the Chinese exports and imports instantly end

menace the trade lanes upon which the entire national economy depends

That "the entire national economy" depends on trade lanes on the other side of the planet is a much greater threat than China could ever be.

Simply look at their illegal actions in the Pacific. Taking disputed islands and militarizing them.

Infiltrating the Australian political and national security system. There is a valid reason why Austrialia now wants nuclear powered attack submarines.

Also, our ally Taiwan, controls about 60 % of semiconductor fabrication. The Chinese buildup in military seapower and air power is huge.

https://www.defense.gov/News/News-Stories/Article/Article/3230682/china-military-power-report-examines-changes-in-beijings-strategy/

“The 2022 China Military Power Report details the East Asian country’s efforts to expand its national power to transform the international system; increase military coercion in the Indo-Pacific region; strengthen its space, nuclear and counterspace capabilities; and intensify its diplomatic, political, economic and military pressure against Taiwan.

“It’s important to understand the contours of [Peoples’ Liberation Army] modernization to include their thinking about what the PLA’s way of war would look like, to kind of survey their current activities and modernizing capabilities and to assess their future military modernization goals,” a senior defense official told reporters prior to the report’s release Tuesday.

“As an outcome of the 20th Party Congress [in October], Beijing is focusing on intensifying and accelerating the PLA’s modernization goals over the next five years, including strengthening what they refer to as its system of strategic deterrence,” the official said.

According to the report, PLA started discussing the “multi-domain precision warfare” as an operational concept meant to use its command, control, communications, computers, intelligence and reconnaissance network to detect vulnerabilities in the operational systems of its adversaries.”

I went on Social Security at the first of the year.

I would have been MUCH better off if I had been allowed to invest that money myself. Instead, the government takes my “retirement investment “ and spent it on whatever they want. There is no longer a “Social Security Trust Fund “. Just an empty Bo’s with an old IOU note.

And now Republicans are doing what Democrats have wrongly accused them of doing: wanting to cut the money many have worked hard for over a lifetime of labor.

So what is supposed to be in a lockbox is actually in the top drawer of a file cabinet in West Virginia?

Sounds like the same people in charge of classified papers.
