Corporate suicide watch: Harley-Davidson plans to go all-electric
American Thinker ^ | 22 Jan, 2023 | Thomas Lifson

I can’t think of a worse example of a corporate CEO misreading his customer base than this via the Robb Report (Hat tip: Ed Driscoll, Instapundit)

“At some point in time, Harley Davidson will be all-electric,” the executive [Harley-Davidson CEO Jochen Zeitz] recently told Dezeen. “But that’s a long-term transition that needs to happen. It’s not something you do overnight.”

Zeitz’s pronouncement seems guaranteed to make a not-insignificant portion of the manufacturer’s customer base cringe. For many enthusiasts, the thing that really sets a Harley apart from other motorcycles—American-made or otherwise—is a thunderously loud internal combustion engine. But the company knows that no matter how important those large-displacement mills might be change is on the horizon.

Maybe by “long term” he means several generations from now. If not, this is a surefire recipe for disaster.

With a battery much bigger than the electric motor, the look won't be nearly as appealing

Perhaps it is just an attempt to pre-empt critics, possibly including the CEO’s college indoctrinated children, claiming that Harley emissions are making “the oceans boil” as Al Gore recently claimed at Davos, after deplaning from his Gulfstream private jet, the Flying Squirrel.

But after all, what does Harley-Davidson really have to offer aside from a bad boy image connected to loud exhaust pipes...

And if they wanted to do an electric... they had an electric concept a year ore two ago. A small thing that looked like a Honda Trail 70 from the 1970s. Nice styling and some HD touches... every RV in America would have had a couple on the back.

But they refused to make it.

You said: “Maybe just buying time.”

No, someone paid him big bucks to say that. The idiots trying to rule the world, are paying all the leaders with fake bucks, to bring on a financial collapse that will put them in control as rulers of the entire world.

Satan himself is behind this. Look at the “globalist leaders”.

His children that will soon persecute God's children beyond imagination. We are to do our part and stand.

Ephesians 6:10-13 KJV

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in

high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Next they’ll make it illegal to own horses. That’s progress to them.

Tampering with a proven customer base is always very risky.

Harley Davidson has always been associated with a certain image. Those who ride a Harley tend to be alpha-men and they have a tough-guy "don't mess with me" attitude. Most of the rest of the motorcycle brands are "rice burners" that the soy boys ride.

We recently saw Victoria's Secret go down the tubes because they tried expanding their base beyond the pretty women with slim figures that made up their base clientele. Being able to wear VS lingerie was a status symbol for women because only certain svelte sizes need apply.

Once VS went after obese women by offering their lingerie in ridiculously large sizes and running an advertising campaign to boot of mostly obese women, the product now had an image that it was for fat women. So the thin women who wanted to differentiate themselves from the Wal-Mart yoga pants crowd went to seek other more exclusive, feminine brands such as Spanx and Bluebella.

The same will happen to HD if they go through with this nonsene. The alpha-male bikers will go on to other masculine brands like Triumph.

I’m sure the executives will have their Golden Parachutes, they’ll be fine.

A completely meaningless claim. 5 years, 20 years, 50 years?

The dif between VS and HD is govt mandates. With the future mandates coming is either comply or go out of business.

Corporate suicide watch: Harley-Davidson plans to go all-electric

Along the same line of corporate suicide...

General Motors is looking to do the same, with all electric vehicles by 2035. There might be others with the same idea, but, the vast majority of people did not ask for this and don't want EVs.

I predict that the most successful motor vehicle companies in the future will be those that continue to build ICE powered vehicles. Those that go all EVs will be "Darwined' out of the market.

Real Men would never ride an EV , murp murp

Schools are turning out woke men these days. Maybe the EV models should be a separate brand name. I would suggest making them very glittery and call them the "Drag Queen" model.

IC cars, trucks and motorcycles will be around for a long time, when eventually the public realizes these vehicles can’t be charged because the green energy grid can’t keep up with demand.

It’s like Germany going back to coal for electricity when the sanctions against cheap Russian gas were implemented.

Some states and countries will try to go 100% Green New Deal and will fail spectacularly.

Just my opinion.
