Your FR name is well chosen!

BTW, much of the rebuilding has already been done.
Mariupol is a new city, for instance.

OMG. That is horrid. Our propane has added a third again to our bill but we don’t get it every month, except in Jan and Feb.

—”And oil is fungible, I’m sure Russia isn’t pumping for no reason.”

Slowing the flow of a well is a very bad idea and even more so in the frozen north.

Yes, you can modulate the flow, but it seldom returns to the previous volume. And in the cold everything freezes, defrosting is not easy.

Notice that russia was flaring off massive amounts:

“This sort of burning has never happened in history,” Zongqiang Luo, senior analyst, gas and LNG at Rystad, told CNN Business, referring to the levels of radiant heat detected in the area.

“For the Portovaya LNG facility, this kind of flaring is very tremendous,” he added

That’s equivalent to 1.6 billion cubic meters on an annual basis, or about 0.5% of the bloc’s gas demand, and worth about $10 million a day based on last week’s European spot gas price

Biden has been an epic failure on so many levels.

The energy costs on top of inflation are going to crush many people. People are really upset buy many can’t make the connection to Biden’s policy.

Newsome wants to force everyone to an electric vehicle when they can’t even keep the powergrid going during summer. We are ruled by idiots.

The Ukrainian War boosters are totally deranged. They actually think that this is going to end well when it will only end in a morass

I have been pondering this recently. I see no ending that we survive.

—”Rember the term “Oil is fungible?” Despite the sanctions, that’s still a thing.”

TRUE, no doubt about it.

That said, Russia is selling at or below the cost of production and taxes.
If you think China and India are overpaying... guess again.
Also, transportation and insurance costs are out of sight for Russian oil.

See #43

The bigger issue though is Russia is now accepting alternative payments outside the dollar, and Saudi Arabia is about to do the same thing. As the US petro-dollar crumbles, so will the value of the dollar. If you think inflation is bad now, well you haven’t seen nothing yet.

Thank you. I have been asking about this coming dedollarization and what it will be like. We stored food for six months.

Russia recently announced they will not use the dollar at all for anything.

The Empire may have gobbled up Europe for now, but what really matters geoeconomically, is how the absolute majority of the Global South is deciding to commit to the Russia/China-led block.

Animal shelters across the nation are experiencing an unprecedented, historical, neverseenbefore overload. We are killing more pets than we ever have. Michigan has been a nokill state for years but Detroit has no choice today.

Some shelters downstate are getting 70 new dogs/week incoming.

I see this as a canary.

Someone commented here recently that Newsome could be our next potus.

I can only imagine. Bringing California ruin to the entire country.

And yes, we are ruled by idiots, corrupt idiots.

Boy, all the Pooty Pals are out in force here. Russia must really want to hide how much European independence hurts. Europe LNG storage is very high, and it is currently predicted will last into next year. Unless Europe has a long deep cold snap, any temporary increase in US gas costs should subside soon, and we will have gained a steady reliable business partner, although probably not paying us as much as recently.

I have natural gas heat, but have not noticed any large increase in my gas bills on two properties. An increase, if any, I will consider my contribution to preventing Russia’s historical quest to take over additional territory. That territory includes Kaliningrad, which used to be East Prussia, the home of my mother’s parents.

An easy litmus test to measure if Russia is ‘winning’ is to ask the question “if Putin could do it all over again the same way would he?”

Putin tried a "winning of hearts and minds" low-intensity approach that absolutely failed. If he could do it all over again, he'd likely level Kiev and wipe out Ukrainian infrastructure right at the start.

Here's another question? Will Putin retreat and surrender the Donbas and Crimea back to Ukraine? (And by Ukraine, I mean NATO.)

Did you actually read the article at the link you sent??? Apparently not.

It has very little if anything positive to say about the russian economy.

"Russia, the world’s second-largest exporter of crude, could make tanker loads of profit at that price. Problem is, Russia is not getting anywhere near that price for its benchmark Urals crude. With Europe and North America not buying Russian oil any more, India and China have emerged as its main buyers and are demanding enormous discounts. Earlier this month, Urals was selling at less than US$40 – half the world price and well below the US$60 price cap imposed on Russian oil by the Group of Seven in December."

The West is committing suicide with this green climate change nonsense…..shutting down energy production. Russia has the energy reserves.

Without cheap abundant energy, and economy is doomed.

"By Jeffrey Sonnenfeld, the Lester Crown professor in management practice and a senior associate dean at the Yale School of Management, and Steven Tian, the director of research at the Yale Chief Executive Leadership Institute."
Its kind of funny that to the Putin fan club, two Yale professors have no idea what they are talking about. The hasbeens this forum passed off as hacks years ago, pro-Russian shills on Substack, blogger and YouTube that ramped up posting up just before or right after the invasion are now the real experts now.
