Two things.
I cancelled my TV subscription and get what I can from antenna.
I avoid using or patronizing tech companies that worked against us. I think you can guess who two of them are.
I know that doesn't sound very heroic, but we don't need heroes. We just need to stop funding the people who are working against us, even if it means doing without.
We live far enough away from an urban center that with the reduced range of digital broadcast signals this is not a very good option for us. The only thing we subscribe to is high speed digital cable so we get our news from the internet and streaming services that other than Youtube are not as closely associated with big tech or big media.
But the truth is that the way these big tech and media monopolies work prevents nearly everyone from not contributing to them in some way. It is a very tangled web and although I appreciate your sentiment very much... But I am not sure that you are accomplishing what you think that you are.
It is a little along the lines of these idiot kids protesting against oil companies when almost all their food is comes from sources highly dependent on products made from oil products and comes in plastic packaging, all their clothing has plastic pieces and much of what they wear is made from synthetic products, not to mention cars and trucks, and even trinkets made from metal are made from manufacturing processes dependent on oil. So lets not kid ourselves!
Most of us need to find pundits such as Steve Bannon, etc., etc... doctors and researchers whose work is not heavily funded by the government... and others who are firebrands such as President Trump and throw our support behind them and pray that they are not misrepresenting themselves. There are politicians who are fighting hard against long odds, like Kari Lake and many others who need our help. This is how we can make progress, not holing up and feeling like watching TV over the airwaves and not buying a new computer or phone is accomplishing anything constructive.
