WASHINGTON (AP) — A surge in Cuban and Nicaraguan arrivals at the U.S. border with Mexico in December led to the highest number of illegal border crossings recorded during any month of Joe Biden’s presidency, authorities said Friday.

...U.S. authorities stopped migrants 251,487 times along the Mexican border in December, up 7% from 234,896 times in November and up 40% from 179,253 times in December 2021, Customs and Border Protection said.

Cubans were stopped nearly 43,000 times in December, up 23% from November and more than quintuple the same period a year earlier. Nicaraguans were stopped more than 35,000 times, up 3% from November and more than double from December 2021.

More migrants were also stopped from Ecuador and Peru.

I canceled my TV subscription and get what I can from antenna.

We live far enough away from an urban center that with the reduced range of digital broadcast signals this is not a very good option for us. The only thing we subscribe to is high speed digital cable so we get our news from the internet and streaming services that other than Youtube are not as closely associated with big tech or big media.

But the truth is that the way these big tech and media monopolies work prevents nearly everyone from not contributing to them in some way. It is a very tangled web and although I appreciate your sentiment very much... But I am not sure that you are accomplishing what you think that you are.

It is a little along the lines of these idiot kids protesting against oil companies when almost all their food is comes from sources highly dependent on products made from oil products and comes in plastic packaging, all their clothing has plastic pieces and much of what they wear is made from synthetic products, not to mention cars and trucks, and even trinkets made from metal are made from manufacturing processes dependent on oil. So lets not kid ourselves!

Most of us need to find pundits such as Steve Bannon, etc., etc... doctors and researchers whose work is not heavily funded by the government... and others who are firebrands such as President Trump and throw our support behind them and pray that they are not misrepresenting themselves. There are politicians who are fighting hard against long odds, like Kari Lake and many others who need our help. This is how we can make progress, not holing up and feeling like watching TV over the airwaves and not buying a new computer or phone is accomplishing anything constructive.

By myself, I'm not accomplishing anything. However, if enough of us do, we just might be able to hit them where it hurts.

That might already be happening, as many of the woke tech firms are now announcing losses and layoffs. Maybe if we can find alternatives to some of these woke companies, they'll hire some of those who were laid off.

We can't just go with the flow and hope the left will come after us later. Losers let things happen, while winners make things happen.
