Soccer Moms are giving way to Single Woke Females — the new “SWFs” — as one of the most potent voting blocs in American politics.
Unmarried women without children have been moving toward the Democratic Party for several years, but the 2022 midterms may have been their electoral coming-out party, as they proved the chief break on the predicted Republican wave. While married men, women and unmarried men broke for the GOP, CNN exit polls found that 68% of unmarried women voted for Democrats.
The Supreme Court’s August decision overturning Roe v. Wade was certainly a special factor in the midterms, but longer-term trends show that single, childless women are joining African Americans as the Democrats’ most reliable supporters.
Their power is growing thanks to the demographic winds. The number of never-married women has grown from about 20% in 1950 to more than 30% in 2022, while the percentage of married women has declined from almost 70% in 1950 to under 50% today. Overall, the percentage of married households without children has declined from 37% in 1976 to 21% today.
A new Institute for Family Studies analysis of 2020 Census data found that one in six women do not have children by the time they reach the end of their childbearing years, up from one in 10 in 1990. Single adult women now total some 42 million, comparable to the key African-American voting bloc (46 million), while vastly larger than key groups like labor-union members (14 million) or college students (20 million).
The Pew Research Center noted by 2019 that since 1960, single-person households in the United States have grown from 13% to 27%. Many, particularly women, are not all that keen on finding a partner.

That may be true, but conservative young men don’t want women to be barefoot and pregnant with no voting rights and no aspirations to be strong, successful women in the family and outside of the family if they choose that path. These men aren’t living in the 1800s. Unfortunately, you are.

Can’t find it right now but there was a talk on the myth of the superfluous father in which the author discussed the impact of father absent childhoods and the verbal denigration of men.
The push to promote strong, independent women went so far that men are considered the bumbling, mistake prone losers in TV ads who choose the wrong product or insurance and the woman is wise and superior and rescues everyone from obvious male incompetence.
Again and again in every ad and 99% of the TV comedies, over and over. Takes a toll.
I mentioned at work once that my rotten mother in the 1950s after her divorce (I was in the 3rd grade) constantly told me as a child “you’re just like your father” and “that’s just like your father” in a tone meaning like a terrible and worthless loser.
The middle aged woman at work said “They still say that to the boys. All the time.” Another woman agreed.
I no longer thought it was just me. My mother was an alcoholic, a narcissist and a compulsive liar.
‘You’re just like your father’ is the prototypical insult to male children. I’ll bet it happens to every male offspring of someone that hates men, especially an ex.

My reaction was eventually, the very truthful ‘you’re just like your mother’ whom she hated as well. Peas in a pod. She kinda stopped doing it after I used that.

Agreed many women have looked to the government to act as their “husband.” I don’t disagree that our familes and society are completely broken. My problem with many on this site is that young women are the sole problem. They are part of the problem, but young men are also the problem. Denying women the right to vote and be equal is not the answer. The asinine comments on this site about denying women the right to vote is contributing to young women refusing to accept conservative values. And comments like this “I regularly counsel young white men to try and date East Asian and lighter skinned Latin women. Their cultures still are pretty strongly family oriented and young American women simply are not.” are shocking. You men really don’t even begin to understand why middle class white women have a problem with you. Maybe I should right a book on this, although I doubt it would wake any of you up to what the real problem is.
Pity these few nutcases, hurling insults is the their only talent.

Agree, I tested the conservatives here a while ago by suggesting that Social Security and Medicare be treated just like any other welfare program, in part because their ‘lock-boxes’ don’t exist - they are just taxation schemes and have been for decades.
And thus by being welfare, government would FIRST look for relatives and make them pay for their elders - so the poor parents of a DNC lobbyist would get their SS/Medicare paid by their kid-lobbyist, etc. For the ones with no children, or poor children, the government would help out to the extended needed to keep the old people from having to live on the streets.
I got blasted here. People are brainwashed to think that they’re entitled to earnings of others, strangers, to pay for their SS/Medicare, even if their kids are loaded. There’s no hope.
They can stay single forever, but sooner or later the gravy train will be derailed.

That would have worked maybe decades before we were all born, but not at all today with all the grievance politics, and racial tensions with mass immigration, the ACLU and other subversive groups. They wouldn’t dare uphold those kinds of standards on minorities.
