Two weeks after a missile strike killed dozens of freshly mobilized Russians at a makeshift barracks in eastern Ukraine, many back home in Russia are still seeking an answer to the question: Are their relatives alive or dead?
One 36-year-old woman, searching for her cousin, who served in one of the regiments housed at the barracks, said the recruiting office told her he was doing his duty. “Wait for news,” she said she was told. Now she is calling hospitals asking whether her relative turned up there.
Yet the New Year’s Day strike in the Russian-occupied city of Makiivka that killed at least 89 Russian draftees, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, provoked little more than murmurs of discontent in the region of Samara in southwestern Russia, where many of the dead were from. Few in Samara are openly resisting the Kremlin’s pursuit of the war, which rumbles on after nearly a year and has so far cost thousands of Russian lives.
The woman, a Samara native, said she opposed the war and had never voted for Russian President Vladimir Putin. But asked how she felt about her cousin’s mobilization, she said: “I didn’t have a reaction. He was called up, so he had to go.”
“Our great-grandfather and great-grandmother went through World War II,” said the woman. “There were no cowards in the family.”
The resignation of those affected by the attack highlights an advantage for the Kremlin as it digs in for a long war: Mr. Putin faces little domestic pressure over its costs, even as the body count rises. His decision to mobilize 300,000 men appears to have shored up Russian lines, which were wobbling late last year after a series of defeats, and allowed them to advance for the first time since July...

an incoming missile doesn’t discriminate between a draftee and a seasoned regular army soldier.
Soldiers die in war.
Winners fight on. Losers give up.
The only “peace process” validated by history is someone wins, someone loses.
Once again, the Ukrainian propagandists were posting headlines that 600 Russians were killed.
Colonel MacGregor (retired) said less than 100 were killed.
Wall Street Journal says under 100.
The Ukrainian propagandists post stuff that’s wildly inaccurate, often sourced by someone who is said to be a Ukrainian pilot and they treat it like gospel truth.
I know that the fog of war makes it hard to discern the truth, but anything involving Skittles, Unicorns and fawning reports of ‘super hero’ status about the neo Nazi Ukrainian military is wrong.
Dozens?
The US MSM (and their agents on FR) said 600 died.
which is it?
Sprechen Sie deutsch?
United States servicemembers and civilians missing in action during the Vietnam War"
600 was from raw phone intercepts of Russian soldiers
Maybe Russian soldiers do propaganda for Ukraine? Eh?
If America had given up, the Soviets still would have taken Berlin and won the war.
People do not understand what it means for a country the size of Germany to lose the Sixth Army at Stalingrad. The war was over the day it was clear 91,000 were surrendering after about 150K dead and wounded. Erasing troops is what wins. They never had a prayer after that.
The Russians don’t care about Ukrainian victory cheerleading.
A denazification process, once begun, must be completed.
Moronic.
Monkeywerz say NATO ground troops are getting ready to deploy in Ukraine.

The neocon deep state is forcing Biden to commit US troops or he’s gone.

Well if "Monkeywerz" says it...
Well that was just a YouTube short, we’ll have to wait for his upcoming show for all the details. He monitors worldwide air traffic and such, and has some military connections.
Ukraine has 7 million men fit for military service, they don't need US troops, they need US weapons.
Ukraine’s army will be defeated in 6 weeks unless NATO troops go in. Probably won’t be all of NATO, rather a coalition of forces - US, UK, Poland, ect.
LOL, only if nukes are involved, otherwise its going to continue being a slug-fest.
