“Limited to 400’ depth and still got under our carrier undetected. But that was 50 years ago.”
Undetected till we fired a flare over their deck.
“All I can say is I was never there doing what we never did.”
I can say I was there doing what we did.
“Reminds me of a NATO exercise back in 72.”
I was out of Hawaii.
Oceanographic research in the North Atlantic. That is my story and I am sticking to it. ;-)
Job well done, rumor has it we, with our USN fast attacks have done the very same thing on multiple occasions. Huzzah!
Russia doesn’t have aircraft carriers.
Realizing that large surface ships have been made effectively obsolete by the deployment of advanced anti-ship missiles, both supersonic and hypersonic, the Russian Navy made a decision to build smaller vessels that would have the capability to deploy the aforementioned advanced missiles and thus jeopardize much larger hostile capital ships such as aircraft carriers. These are especially relied on by NATO, primarily the US...

The USSR did but they ceased to exist in 1991.
A lot of freepers operate from very outdated roadmaps.

The Soviet MoD is always present on these threads. You never served in our military like so many of us have.
Pleasure yourself.

We use aircraft carriers to expand our arena of influence. They are very effective in that role.
You might want to look up the Admiral Kuznetsov, genius.
And now, Russia doesn’t have any aircraft carriers.
Yes. Russia wanted to repair it, but...

Can you imagine being a Soviet sailor taking a leake over the side and see a periscope watching you piss?
It does, but is laid up for repairs.
All those classified papers out in the open... ..I haven’t seen anyone suggest the money hunter got that came from those countries.. Was there pay for view?
There is a sub built by the Danes (I think) that uses fuel cells for power and is so quiet that it can routinely pop up in the middle of US carrier groups. The US has borrowed it to study it.
Have they integrated the gals on the subs? I know the US experience was that the first gal integrated onto our subs was soon discovered with the Chief of Boat who was laying more pipe than American Water Works. A scene no doubt regularly repeated in out woke sub force.
The guys who I know who left long after I departed the subservice said they were briefed on BLINDMAN'S BLUFF.
Something about no comments were allowed....
I see the book was like $30 on Amazon and less than $5 on WALMART so I ordered the Walmart one so I can read it again.
YOUTUBE History Channel on BLIND MAN'S BLUFF
A few years ago I was in the airplane hangar working on a home bult RV10 airplane. One day a fellow stopped by that I thought I had never seen before. It turns out he did pre-patrol briefs at SUBLANT about the time I went there so I probably did see him then.
We had some very good conversations about those briefs... but I never saw him again.
Great story thanks for posting!
Love stories about the former “Great” Britain’s military machismo!
