Republicans are calling on Attorney General Merrick Garland to appoint a special counsel to probe President Biden’s handling of classified materials after the discovery of at least two sets of sensitive documents belonging to the 80-year-old president.
“Special counsel,” Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) tweeted on Wednesday, in a terse and pointed message aimed at the Justice Department after it was revealed that another batch of classified documents was discovered by Biden aides.
Wednesday’s reports of more classified documents being found come on the heels of Monday’s revelation that 10 sensitive files from Biden’s time as vice president — some marked “top secret” — were retrieved by lawyers for the commander in chief on Nov. 2, 2022, from the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement think tank in Washington and turned over to the National Archives.
Hawley wrote to Garland on Wednesday, formally asking the DOJ to appoint a special counsel, noting that Biden appeared to have done “exactly what President Trump did.”
“The double standard here is astounding. The underlying behavior at issue — a President’s retention of old classified documents dating back to a past presidency — is materially the same in both cases,” Hawley wrote. “But in President Trump’s case, that retention triggered an unprecedented raid on the home of a former president, rationalized with a thicket of partisan doublespeak.”
“I look forward to Merrick Garland’s appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate and prosecute Joe Biden, just as he did with Trump. It’s only fair,” Hawley tweeted on Tuesday, before news broke of the second tranche of documents found.
Several lawmakers joined Hawley in calling for a special counsel to be appointed on Wednesday.
“Attorney General Merrick Garland must appoint a special counsel,” Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) wrote in a tweet Wednesday.

The University of Pennsylvania pocketed a $3 million donation last year from a mysterious Hong Kong shell company that is owned by a Shanghai businessman with deep ties to Chinese government officials.
The donation from Xu Xeuqing, who has no apparent connection to the University of Pennsylvania and was previously embroiled in a Shanghai public corruption scandal, raises questions about the true source of the money. Documents reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show Xeuqing has close ties to the Chinese Communist Party.
China has poured money into American universities in recent years, in part to buy influence on campuses, experts say. The donation comes as federal prosecutors have increased scrutiny on the Chinese government’s influence-buying and espionage operations at American universities.
“Unequivocally they’re using the money they’re providing the universities to garner influence there,” said Ben Freeman, the director of the Foreign Influence Transparency Initiative at the Center for International Policy. “It’s not the sole motive, but it’s one of a variety of motives.”
Foreign money has poured into the school over the past few years with a significant portion coming from China. The Ivy League school received $61 million in gifts and contracts from China between March 2017 and the end of 2019; over the previous four year period, it took in just $19 million from Chinese donors.
The University of Pennsylvania received the $3 million in question from a Hong Kong-based company called “Nice Famous Corporation Limited,” according to financial disclosures.

VP Biden, his son Hunter, and Hunter’s daughter Finnegan, arrived in Beijing..........on an official US visit financed by taxpayers.
Throughout the tax-paid trip, Hunter Biden seemed to duck in and out, sometimes joining his father at events and red-carpet arrival ceremonies, and at other times following his own itinerary, presumably with his daughter Finnegan. As is customary, the White House did not provide details about what the vice president’s relatives were doing when they were not part of his public events.
What else Hunter Biden may have done during the tax-paid two-day stop in China is unclear. There are no indications he met with Chinese government officials. Mesires, the spokesman, said that he did not conduct any business during the tax-paid trip — including when he met with Li, the Chinese banker and his nascent business partner.
Several former White House officials who traveled with Biden on the tax-paid trip told NBC News that they didn’t know at the time that Hunter Biden had any business interests in China and were unaware of his private schedule while in Beijing.
Reporters along for the trip also indicated no one was aware of Hunter’s mega business deal in China.

Chris Heinz (John Kerry’s stepson) claims neither he nor Rosemont Seneca Partners, the firm he had part ownership of, had any role in the deal with Bohai Harvest. Nonetheless, Biden, Archer and the Rosemont name became increasingly involved with China.
Archer became the vice chairman of Bohai Harvest, helping oversee some of the fund’s investments.
Troublingly, some of those investments had major implications for US national security........including the safety and security of Americans.

The details of a mega-deal...... with larger importance to the Biden family fortunes....... were certainly worked out weeks ahead in VP Biden’s tax-paid office utilizing Biden’s tax-paid staff.
The alacrity with which Hunter seemingly sewed up the billion dollar deal shorty after arriving is significant. Because the details were already hashed out when he boarded Air Force Two. Joe and Hunter surely allowed themselves a high five. No need to discuss the deal on the trip over.....it was fait accompli....thanks to the VP’s tax-paid help.

I think the alphabet agencies told Biden to stow docs showing the whole Hunter moneybag thing going on in his think tank where no one would find it, but whistleblowers told the GOP where it was several months if not at least a year ago. Then Biden told Garland to raid Trump so it looks like it’s a normal thing and maybe they could get Trump imprisoned in the process.
Even more dangerous is the GOP asking Yellen for the Suspicious Activity Reports of bank transfers to Biden’s family. That should point to exact times and amounts that were transfered. Yellen will probably get contempt as she WILL NOT produce them but the courts will not indict her like Bannon.
The other danger here is whistleblowers in the Treasury. If they produce those SARs....
Trump was PRESIDENT-—HE DID HAVE power to have such documents & to de-classify as he chose.
BIDEN was VP-—HE DID NOT have such power.

President Joe Biden’s possession of classified information while he was vice president, other members of his current administration have been linked to the scandal. The classified documents were found at the Penn Biden Center, a think tank that the president started in 2018.
As reported by Fox News, 10 members of Biden’s administration were formally employed at the think tank, including current Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The list also includes Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Colin Kahl and White House Counselor Steven Richetti. Blinken and Richetti were managing directors at the think tank while Kahl was a consultant.
Spencer Boyer, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for NATO and Europe policy was a senior fellow at Penn Biden.
Deputy to the U.N. Ambassador Jeffrey Prescott; Ariana Berengaut; Organization of Security and Cooperation Europe Michael Carpenter, special assistant Juan Gonzalez, speechwriter Carlyn Reichel, and former deputy secretary of state Brian McKeon.

That all said, he ain’t runnin’ for nothing in 2024. This may be the “excuse” to force him to resign. Hell Nixon resigned when the walls were closing in. Biden is too STUPID to see that, so DEMS are giving him a push. Naming a new VP after Kamel-Toe ascends the throne will be an entertaining process. May rip the country apart.
If DEMS were smart, yea right, they would want a very neutral VP so as to coast into 2024. Then, they just steal the election as usual.
