Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) signed legislation Wednesday night banning commonly owned semiautomatic rifles and magazines which Democrats consider “high capacity.”
The law took effect immediately with Pritzker’s signature. It allows those who already own the now-banned firearms to retain them, but requires that the owners register the guns with the Illinois State Police.
Pritzker’s office released a statement upon his signing of the bill. It said, in part, “The new law also requires existing owners of semi-automatic rifles to register their ownership, ensuring that law enforcement knows the location of these weapons of war and who to hold accountable if they fall into the wrong hands.”

A little revolt, err mostly peaceful protest, is in order.
“Any government that doesn’t trust the people with guns, CAN’T BE TRUSTED.” Remember the Third Reich.

One Ring to rule them all,
One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.
IF I was the gun dealer, I wouldn’t sell a single one to law enforcement or the gubmint.
The sheriffs need to tell the political boys that if they want the peoples’ gun, THEY CAN GO GET THEM. This whole thing is just another way for the Defund the Police political crowd to get more LEOs killed.
Good luck with that. The People can't be bothered with this. Now, announce there is a 6-month backlog on new iPhones, and even conservatives would be marching on DC.
My relative lives in southern IL and there’s no way he’s complying. The sheriff probably won’t either.
Hasn’t firearm registration already been ruled unconstitutional? Do we have to register in order to attend churches and synagogues? .....to speak freely?
Is Illinois trying to outlaw security companies?
Unconstitutional.
Lawsuit has probably already been filed and is working its way up to the Supreme Court, who have repeatedly struck down similar restrictions since the Bruen decision.
Go pound sand Gov. F you! Don’t press it to far or, well you know what.
This include their national guard? Because so many criminals do this too...LOL F’ em.
Sure, if they are “weapons of war” then police don’t need them.
Firearms safety instructors are going to see that photo and stroke out!
Why don’t you clean up Chicago Pshitzer? Leave the law abiding citizen alone.
