On my recent trips on Boston's...and New York's...transit systems I've seen far fewer passengers than a few years ago. In fact,I live within a hundred yards of a suburban commuter rail station that has a large,open and plainly visible parking lot. A couple of years ago that lot was always chock full during “business hours”. These days it's no more than half full.

I live in a college town next to a bus route. Before Covid, the buses were always packed during the morning and afternoon commutes. For 2 years that bus route had almost no passengers. It is not much better now. My guess is everybody is still working from home or driving in. Morning road traffic has been back to normal for quite some time.
