CSIS developed a wargame for a Chinese amphibious invasion of Taiwan and ran it 24 times. In most scenarios, the United States/Taiwan/Japan defeated a conventional amphibious invasion by China and maintained an autonomous Taiwan. However, this defense came at high cost. The United States and its allies lost dozens of ships, hundreds of aircraft, and tens of thousands of servicemembers. Taiwan saw its economy devastated. Further, the high losses damaged the U.S. global position for many years. China also lost heavily, and failure to occupy Taiwan might destabilize Chinese Communist Party rule. Victory is therefore not enough. The United States needs to strengthen deterrence immediately.
China is unlikely to go to war against or over Taiwan. There’s just not enough upside for them. But they can try to coerce a peaceful surrender.
Or they can mobilize, let everyone think the target is Taiwan, and then pivot and roll into Siberia.
Thank you! My grammar sucks. Now and then I tittle with those word things that I picked up, reading classics in my youth.
Nope - MAD applies for any shooting war with China. Would like to hear from others how the US would be able to defend Taiwan without risking nuclear war.
I suspect that China does not need to invade Taiwan and never will. Former Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao , Mitch McConnell's better half, is from Taipei, Taiwan and look how deeply attached to Mainland China that RINO socialist team is.
In the coming struggle of the Global Reset, China will be welcomed by Taiwan with open arms.
I wonder if they war gamed into their calculations How American young people are lazy by in large ,overweight ,under exercised, whining Brats, When they were forecasting a win for team America
China went to war for Siberia in Tom Clancy’s The Bear and the Dragon
