Will this be like Trey Gowdy’s multi-year investigations that resulted in exactly NO ONE going to jail?

Gowdy 100% did his job. He single handedly brought to light the server Hillary was hiding that assisted in the election of Trump. He got out in front of the press everyday to bring to light the crimes that were committed and place pressure on a corrupt press and an apethetic, lazy public. He uncovered crimes through his investigations but dealt with a horrible and complicit DOJ. He is not the DA, jury, judge. He doesn’t hold a grand jury, prosecute, render verdict and sentence.

He did his job. You’re barking completely up the wrong tree and out of frustration you go for the easy target; the only one that did his job.

I have not read the rest of the replies, but you need to adjust your expectations. I am not being snarky towards you or anyone else who expressed your frustration (which I share).

Contrary to recent behavior from the democrats, the “congress” does not have the ability to charge people with a crime, arrest them, adjudicate them, and incarcerate them.

All they can do is investigate and make referrals to DOJ. DOJ only prosecutes one party so the odds are far more likely they will prosecute Jordan for something than anyone for whom they make a referral.

The DOJ will “open” investigations into some of the targets for Jordan to allow their comrades to plead the 5th or hide behind the “ongoing investigations”.

The media will run cover for them like they always do.

I think Jordan has been pretty realistic about what he can and cannot do.

What congress can do that would curtail some of this partisan (and illegal) behavior is to use the power of the budget. Congressional subpoenas and hearings don’t really get their attention. Using the appropriations to punish with budget does.

It will take balls because they will scream about how every bad thing would not have happened if the GOP house had not stripped money from *insert their favorite agency here*. We will see. There are some pretty vocal folks in congress now that are talking about this and some of them do have intestinal fortitude but the majority are still milquetoast.

This was the job that Jordan wanted (more than speaker) so I do believe he is committed to it. He also has more political power than McCarthy because he could have taken the gavel from him, but he didn’t. I don’t think McCarthy will be able to throttle “investigations” and refuse subpoenas like Paul Ryan did to Nunes.
