Matt Gaetz was a veritable Paul Ryan fanboi
I was just thinking how odd it is that if Trump is doing something himself then all is good. But if you let Trump pick someone to do something then everyone is screwed.
"Not a soul in Congress cares what the out-of-work old man in tights and cape wishes to shout about this subject anyway. Literally, by definition, this Congress will have no interaction with MAGAMan."
That's just for starters, need more?1) Rep. Max Miller, R-OhioMiller, 34, is a former White House aide who helped Trump plan his Jan. 6 rally at the Ellipse ahead of the Capitol riot. He replaces Rep. Anthony Gonzalez, one of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump after the attack. A "scion of one the Cleveland area's wealthiest, most prominent, most powerful families," according to Politico, Miller was the first person endorsed by Trump this cycle.
2) Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla.Luna, 33, a conservative social media influencer and media personality who once worked for the far-right Turning Point USA, has repeatedly made false claims about the election. She has described herself as a "pro-life extremist" while cozying up to right-wingers like Steve Bannon and MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell. Luna campaigned with Greene and has already aligned herself with the House Freedom Caucus and members like Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, and Lauren Boebert of Colorado (who herself barely won re-election).3) Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wis.Van Orden attended Trump's Jan. 6 rally and marched to the Capitol. He said he never entered the building even though a photo showed him smiling in an area of the Capitol grounds that was behind police lines. He allegedly funded his trip with thousands in campaign funds from his failed 2020 House bid. Van Orden supports a national ban on abortion, which he compared to genocide, and linked rising murder rates to women working outside the home.
4) Sen. J.D. Vance, R-OhioVance, the "Hillbilly Elegy" author and tech venture capitalist whose campaign was backed by millions from billionaire right-winger Peter Thiel, was once a harsh Trump critic before embracing MAGA and the former president once that became politically advantageous. Vance, who has claimed the 2020 election was stolen, has also supported the idea of a federal abortion ban and billions of dollars to finish Trump's border wall, and has promoted the "great replacement" theory popularized by right-wingers like Tucker Carlson and white nationalists.
Our only option left is to trust Trump. There are no other options. Get as many concessions as you can, put McCarthy through and keep the pressure on him to do the right thing. That means - the people have to pressure their GOP Rep. This doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether they or we like it or not, they need to be a united front for at least public trust purposes.
LOL! DeSantis fought to remove Boehner. “The House Freedom Caucus was involved in the resignation of Boehner on September 25, 2015, “
That's your response? Pretty thin response. Not to mention that you cut off the rest of my quote that pointed out that DeSantis then voted for Ryan twice.
Some House Freedom Caucus members individually voted for Boehner in 2015 while others didn't. DeSantis did vote for Boehner. Given all that, it doesn't logically follow that all House freedom Caucus members individually fought to remove Boehner, which was basically your response.
As I pointed out to you DeSantis voted for Boehner twice and then Ryan twice.
Making a DeSantis is the answer proclamation as you did on this thread about Trump picking McCarthy, is screwy.
No thank you. And I see another member has joined in NOT voting for McCarthy. Now 21 against. McCarthy needs to give it up.
Hogwash..Where in hell have all these conservatives been the past 40+ years? If not for Trump the corrupt Republican party would be dead on the floor.
It's not a handicap, it's a skill. Keeps my hands free to drink and drive.
Are you saying the listed people will vote whatever way Trump tells them to vote for speaker? That would be sad. Maybe it's the heroic all-CAPS Truth Social pseudo-tweet this morning that convinced them?
After Trump's MegaMAGA endorsement today for his pal Kev, not only did he not convince any rebels to bend over farther for McCarthy... Kev actually lost one today after the Trump message.
Yeah, lets get back to electing professional career politician insiders. No more outsiders!!
Brilliant!
“Trump doubles down on RINO McCarthy”
That is a hell of a lot better than a guy named Hakeem. Republicans need to get their sh!t together and play the not too bad hand they were dealt.
You can go compromise the nation away to the deep state, but many of us will not. We are happy to see McCarthy getting this level of pushback.
Why? McCarthy is a RINO. Maybe there is no one else with as much clout?
There was a stolen election, COVID mandates, FBI censorship and spying, the US government funding the creation of a bioweapon that was used against us, US intelligence agencies interfering in an election….all while McCarthy was climbing or at the top of the leadership ladder of the GOP.
If you think we are still at a place where half measures and continuing to move to a global new world order slower than the WEF wants us to - will save our country, you are mistaken. Drastic measures need to be taken and the VERY FIRST step in that process is getting rid of the “leaders” who have allowed us to get to this point.
Precisely.. McCarthy isn't perfect, but I can't think of anyone else better who wants it and would get at least 218 votes.
And all it would take for us to end up with a radical leftist as Speaker instead is for the Dems to peel off about a half-dozen rinos, who are getting tired and will vote for Jeffries just for this whole thing to be done with. That's too high a price to pay pursuing an ideal that isn't there.
Yup. I’m surprised he made it as far as he did.
Trump can’t get elected anymore. Grasp this reality. Trump made sure of that when he didn’t take election fraud seriously until the presidency was stolen from him in a coup.
Desantis can’t get elected either. He can’t beat Trump in a primary. Soooooooooooooo, Trump wins the primay and goes on to crush demented Joe....
You have quite an imagination, not to mention you’re able to see into future.
Trump can’t get elected?
That’s what all the posers, the lying media, and establishment politicians said about Trump in 2015. They all failed big.
He got elected twice.
The second time by a bigger total than ever in history
You need to get your head out of your a$$
