Reports are coming out that Kevin McCarthy has moved into the Speaker’s office. This is despite reports that 10-15 GOP Congressmen and women are not expected to vote for him on the first ballot tomorrow.
Kevin McCarthy has a lot of baggage to overcome to win the Speaker of the House. He famously questioned in a phone call released by MSNBC whether those who protested the stolen election in 2020 could have their Twitter accounts removed.
At the same time, McCarthy said that the only discussion that he would have with President Trump is to encourage him to resign. This was how McCarthy reacted after a million Americans showed up on Jan 6 to the Washington Monument to protest the stolen 2020 election.
Because of these and numerous other actions, McCarthy reportedly does not have enough votes to win Speaker of the House. McCarthy needs 218 votes and the GOP holds 222. With 10-15 GOP representatives expected to not vote for McCarthy for speaker, he is in jeopardy of winning the Speakership.
“He’s part of the swamp cartel,” GOP Rep. Bob Good said of McCarthy and predicts on Fox that 10-15 Republicans will vote against McCarthy tomorrow. He says there will be a new candidate who emerges on the second ballot. “You’ll see that name tomorrow on that second ballot.”

In a piece at CNN, McCarthy is reportedly trying to win over GOP Reps by offering to change Pelosi’s rules for a vote to remove the Speaker.

Louie Gohmert ran against Boehner a few years back. I wish he would have won.
He is a true Conservative, fearless and a man of honor.
(BTW, my rep, Jim Jordan, who was sitting next to Louie in the House that day, voted FOR Boehner. I couldn’t believe it.)
McCarthy was Speaker in the past. I seen his pic handing gavel to Nanzi.

Newt Gingrich. If he’s up to it physically. That’s what McCarthy does not offer - strategic political communication skills and insight. McCarthy did nothing to help the GOP in the mid-terms. He’s just the nearest warm body available to serve as Speaker - and it will be a regrettable mistake if he is selected.
So, what happens if he doesn’t get a majority?
Never a doubt in my mind. Different day, same o’ crap!
GOP is now the ‘EXTENDED SWAMP’ for sure.
The GOPee is a near backwater of The Swamp.
My two choices in order are:
Steve Scalise
Donald J. Trump
Perhaps it’s not too late to add Kevin’s name to the LIST
of “those serving the AMERICAN citizens” in viewing their own personal and family’s tax returns.
How about it “Mr.Speaker”?
