Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) will vacate her congressional seat on Tuesday after becoming a wealthy woman during her six years of serving Wyoming.
Cheney, who lost her Republican primary by nearly 40 points in August, will depart Congress on January 3 and return home as a defeated 56-year-old never Trumper.
Cheney will not depart Congress empty-handed. During her six years in Congress, she has become very wealthy. Breitbart News reported in August that Cheney’s net worth ballooned from an estimated $7 million when she first took office in 2017 to possibly more than $44 million in 2020. Depending on the specifics of her latest financial disclosure form, Cheney’s net worth could have skyrocketed up to 600 percent in Congress.

A rule of thumb for centuries has been that a politician who becomes rich while in office is presumptively corrupt.
The Delusional Left is presumptively corrupt.
Funny how $174,000 per year can turn into $44 million in short number of years...
That is why every one of these dirtbags stab all of us citizens in the back over and over.
spit on them
She fund-raised her campaigns on average about $2 million per election cycle.
But her 2022 cycle was more than $20 million with biggest donors tied to WEF.
Opensecrets has the receipts.
Has any president other than Donald Trump lost money while in office???
Has any Congress person not become rich while in office???
Compromise has a price, and Liz charged top dollar.
I guess she’ll have to go on doing what she has learned so well how to do . . . hoing.
Before that, it was simply about the power. Megalomaniac types. Egoists.
Yeah, we appointed the above personality types to lead the nation and we're surprised they're trying to herd us into the wood chipper?
Plus whatever she inherits from Daddy. But, yeah, good riddance to bad rubbish. Some days, it’s hard for me to believe how I could have trusted the likes of Bush & Cheney.
I am reminded of a fine, old German tradition; at least amongst the Hansa league. A Burgomaster, upon completion of his elected term, was weighed. If he gained significant weight during his term, he was not eligible for re election and may even have been punished. So much for $174 grand per annum turning into millions in a half dozen years.
Wow, just like many of us, she is frugal, ate saltines and peanut butter, couch surfed all six years, and banked her entire paycheck. I am SO impressed! What a gal!
Let’s do the math....
$174,000 less say, 45% taxes, both Federal & Wyoming so, she nets $95,700 per year, add back deductions, etc. call it a net $100,000 per annum.
$100K per year x 6 years or $600,000 net for 6 years of “service”.
Her NW increased from $7MM to $44MM for a net gain over 6 years of $37MM
She made $600K turn into $37MM. I know it’s not annualized returns or the incremental increases, but think about that. Her 6-year ROI is 6,100%.
People like this need cells, not TV time.
Harry Truman was broke when he left office.
> During her six years in Congress, she has become very wealthy. <
There is a saying. It’s not always true. But I’m guessing it fits when it comes to members of Congress.
Behind every great fortune there is a crime.
Honoré de Balzac
Selling out the country pays well, very well it seems. Imagine if Liz was able to serve a few more terms. She would probably be worth over $100 million.
> Has any Congress person not become rich while in office??? <
If I recall correctly, Bernie Sanders was for years one of the least wealthy members of Congress. Then I guess he said to hell with that. Bolshevik Bernie is now a multi-millionaire.
I did not know that...Thanks...
Anyone see her tax returns yet?
They all are.
