SWAT teams descended on a sleepy residential community in Pennsylvania in the early hours of Friday morning where they arrested Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger more than a month after four university students were slain in their beds.
Kohberger, 28, was taken into custody by the Pennsylvania State Police at a home in Albrightsville, a small town in the heart of the Poconos Mountains more than 2,000 miles from where the gruesome killings took place on November 13.
Latah County Prosecutor Bill Thompson said investigators believe Kohberger broke into the students' home 'with the intent to commit murder.'...
Friday's arrest is the first major break in the case - with Kohberger asking if 'anyone else was arrested' when he was taken into custody. An extradition hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
Kohberger is a registered Libertarian, although does not appear to have had any active social media profiles at the time of his arrest.
A relative told The New York Post Kohberger is 'OCD' about his eating habits and forced his family to buy new pots that had never been used to cook meat.
'It was above and beyond being vegan. His aunt and uncle had to buy new pots and pans because he would not eat from anything that had ever had meat cooked in them. He seemed very OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder)' the woman said.
During a press conference on Friday authorities confirmed that a white Hyundai Elantra was discovered in the search – with sources saying it was towed from outside Kohberger's home.
Law enforcement sources told CNN that his DNA was discovered at the scene of the crime – with officers managing to track down who owned the car seen in the area of the slayings.

Why refer to them as party-hearty girls? Is that something that came out during the investigation?
He was a PhD student in Pullman and had his own office there.
Criminology.
I’m wondering if he wanted to commit the perfect murder like the crazy killers in the Alfred Hitchcock movie ‘Rope’.
= = =
He is a PHD student. So, since the 12 grade at least, he has had a lot of time to scheme and plan. Undergrad years, Masters years, and that research project.
Did he plan it all the way through his arrest and trial?
Criminal Justice Major - He should know the system.
Will he just wilt, or plead insanity, or mount some elaborate blame shifting, tainted evidence defense? Claiming they chose him because they could not find the real killer. And the entire world population is prejudiced against him due to media coverage, portraying him as OCD, Vegan, Heroin addict, bully, male, Libertarian, etc.
I liked the Sheriff’s approach of ‘evidence and method’ will come out through the court system.
As juicy and curiosity-satisfying as this info is, it may screw up the case.
At least it would in my movie.
Some might call him a highly functional paranoid schizophrenic. He probably has OCD also. Psychotropic drugs and obsessive eating beliefs not helpful in terms of nutrition and toxic compounds in his brain.
How did he find out about the people in the house howver?
It may be possible that Kohberger stabbed four people in their sleep in succession, but it’s unlikely.
= = =
I’ve been pondering that.
HS friends said he took up boxing. So he knows close contact fighting.
Could he take two at a time? If they were in the same bed?
And they had been out late. Were they impaired, sleepy?
It should have been a bloody mess. The crime scene could reveal the sequences.
After the murders he actually sat in on a class that discussed the murders. It is reported he remained silent during the class and listened to the comments being made.
Vegetarian, not vegan, possibly for perceived health reasons and his well-known digestive issues. But he also ate liver dumplings, so not even completely vegetarian.
But who really knows. Propaganda during the time was intense from all sides.
Or someone who has studied crimes alot. I would suppose it would have to be specific wounds he knew about....that would be good evidence against him..
Meat never cooked in the pan?
What about the human hand that touched it?
A mouse ran over it in the cabinet?
A rat fell into the molten steel at the casting factory?
This guy would starve unless he crawled around and grazed directly in the garden.
I’m surprised it didn’t say he puts toilet paper on the roller backwards…
As comments go, even for you, that was over the top!
= = =
Note that someone brought up ‘bitter clingers’ which does have a connection to toilet paper.
Hitler also admitted to hydrophobia....
He would do that in my movie, too.
Asparagus. The stuff is poison I tell ya.
No, they didn't.
Cats are like women that are constantly PMSing. Volatile as hell…
Yep. I explicitly said I didn't know if they were, but cited the two sets of dishes rule as an example of it being common and perfectly acceptable to not cross contaminate.
Oh, and a true Libertarian wouldn’t demand anything of anyone. Live and let live.
true.
However what happens in these families is that the final requests may look bizarre, but these people have been inched over to bizarre one step at a time, and normal is no longer the midline.
i had a cousin like that. He completely controlled my aunt with his weird behavior.
She should have kicked him out years and years ago.
Indeed....they follow the Bernard Herrmann school of violent violins with slashing strokes!
btw did you notice the o in Motel alludes to the final shot in the shower scene of the blood flowing down the drain. It took me a few moments to get that.
